Re: Charlotte's Web/The Lord of the Flies
Ha, Awesome, love Wilbur's expression!
Re: Hey Diddle Diddle in the Book of Life
Awesome illustration and use of textures!
Re: alice's adventures in wonderland/Land of Oz
Lovely colors and illustration style!
Re: Count Toto
Love the flying monkey! +1
Count Toto
Re: Oddessy's Siren Song/Rub a Dub Dub
Two of my favorite works mashed together; The Siren's Song from Homer's "The Oddessy" and the classic children nursery rhyme "Rub a Dub Dub."
Re: Around the World in 20,000 Days
Great idea! I love the colors- definitely a shirt I would wear. +1
HAHA! I would have to agree! Not normally a fan of the roach...the only animal on the planet that people kill without thinking twice. However, I love the shirt and I would definitely wear this one! Very funny idea!
Re: We're not in Kansas anymore...
You always draw the best characters. I really like the colors
I really like the textures and the illustration. But I don't think I'd wear a shirt with a big block of ink like that.
HAHA! That's awesome! He's like the Tattle-tell heart.
Re: Jules Verne Mashup
love this! the colors are great!

Shouldn't there be 3 men in the tub too? Or would that be too sexual for woot? :P Sorry...I just had to go there
I like the how simple the design is. It looks great. I would definitely wear this.
I like that there is still a difference in the other entry with the same two stories being collaborated. The colors look great in this shirt. +1
Is that mushroom supposed to be behind Frankenstein's monster? At first I thought it was growing out of his head lol. Just makes it a crazier party :P Anyway, good job on all the characters
Re: D.QUIXOTE X FRANKENSTEIN
When I see this thumbnail, I think dirty, dirty thoughts. I think it's the overall placement and "domination" on the part of Frankenstein. My problem, not yours. Haha.
I'm kind of underwhelmed by what could have been an amazing derby based on the theme alone. Hopefully we get some awesome submits this weekend.
I like! My first idea was Jonah meeting Capt. Ahab in the whale, but then i remembered that Capt Ahab wasn't acutally eaten - just pulled into the depths of the sea. Couldn't figure out how to make it work.... Great design! +1

Exactly why i don't like this shirt. The whole outline of the print area is just ridiculous. It needs to flow naturally into the shirt itself. Meh.
But Moby Dick DOES symbolize god!
Re: Resub - MobyDick/The Owl and the Pussycat
this one is better!
Re: 80 Days/20000 Leagues
is it just me but it seems like there are more than 6 colors. might want to fix that.
joaolauro wrote:Don Quixote finally achieved what he wanted the most: fight a giant. 5 colors on asphalt, hope you like it.
This is really cool looking! I love the colors and everything. Except... I think the drawing is too big on the shirt. Still, genius! GMV. ~Tico
keelhaulkate wrote:is it just me but it seems like there are more than 6 colors. might want to fix that.
I think there are only 5 with a lot of small halftones: Yellow, Green, Dark Green, Pink, Purple
I wish they would. I'd have bought one! I laughed. WIN!
It is great but neither book is public domain. Having said that, maybe it'll be okay legally speaking since it's clearly parody. Although, in the spirit of the competition, it is not technically following the rules. I am pulling for this one to not be rejected, though.
Re: Alice inFERNO
Very cool shirt design -- you've got my vote! Is that the Jabberwocky as Satan? Love it!
The Jungle Book mashed with Alice's Adventures in Wonderland Here's a larger view! Thanks again for your comments and suggestions on my other entry. I changed it to "raven = writing desk" before I saw your comment jboshaw, hope you like this idea too.
Great design. I love the lighting on Frankie.
Re: The Jungle Book / Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
Haha, I absolutely love it! The little raven up top is an excellent touch.
Thanks guys. There's a new version of this up now.
Re: Royal Juxtaposition-Machiavelli/Tolstoy
Not to sound daft, but I don't get it.
Very sleek and cuuuuute! I love the owl, a lot.
I read the title before looking at the design. When I looked at the design, I probably stared at it for 5 whole seconds thinking how you represented the Mad Hatter as a hunchback. Boy, did I feel dumb.
Re: Sherlock of Oz
Cool stuff. I really like the way you staged this illustration. I colored a Sherlock Holmes (or as I call it, "victorian mustache squad")comic last year. I suspect that if this scene happened in the comic, the flying monkeys would have had mustaches and mutton chops.
jboshaw wrote:Haha, I absolutely love it! The little raven up top is an excellent touch.
Thanks! :D I almost made the raven the thumbnail.

oh ok the basket threw me off looks kinda grey to me. and there's black in the rope for the ballon so i thought 7, but it might be a really small halftone. cant tell.
Woot, you'll never amount to anything unless you embrace DANGER
The real problem with the red shoes is that in the book, the slippers are silver, not ruby. Which makes the Dorothy in this shirt a movie reference rather than a book reference. The War of the Worlds ship, while very cool, also looks more movie-inspired than book-inspired to me. Not that I'm a nerd, or anything. I'm slightly perplexed by the Abe Lincoln reference since he was, well, a real person. Although appearing in many stories, of course. I really do like the art & design of the shirt, it's just those couple of references that worry me.
grayehound wrote:I was mistaken in calling it the Book of Life (that's from another religion entirely). It is the Book of the Dead, though I've heard it called the Book of the Afterlife, too.
Also called the "Breathing Permit," if that entertains you. Thanks for providing the translation of the hieroglyphics - I was too lazy to pull out my copy of Gardiner and try to work it out. I do feel that because there's nothing specifically Book of the Dead about it, it's off-topic, but no more so than the octopus shirt from the comics derby that's been on sale all day today. So while I'd like to stand up for rigor in derby theme, Woot doesn't bother & I happen to like this shirt quite a bit! So I'll be part of the problem ;) and leave my vote where it is.
