Re: Hey Diddle Diddle in the Book of Life

I really like this shirt, but it seems ink heavy, and I can really see some issues that could pop up during the printing.

The style also reminds me of 1984 B.C. from the Ancient Egypt Derby. I don't know how that printed though...

HI Gorosaurus! Excellent picture...sooo good for a first entry, one thing you seem to have more than 6 colors and only six colors are allowed,if you have time to pare them down and resubmit thats the best way...
otherwise it won't be allowed.
BUT!!!
Very excellent concept and drawing , congratulations on your 1st entry!

As for the shirt: It looks SO much better with more color. Really makes it pop.

Thank you very much, I appreciate your feedback! I will see about getting the colors in order. Is there a process to resubmitting something?

I'm only just now seeing how people go about these contests. Very interesting stuff!

Oh, and this is the link to this original entry. I'll play with it more tomorrow then

Hi Gorosaurus! Just go ahead and fix that pesky color issue, resubmit your new entry, then you can click on the red X next to your old too many color entry within 24 hours and it will be removed...good luck, hope to see your newer version, sorry you have to go through that!

Re: Sherlock Holmes/20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

This looks great guys.

I passed right by this too. I agree, the thumb could be better and is a pretty important aspect of derbying. Maybe something like the closeup in the comp would've been better.

Either way, I hope to see you two enter more often. And you'd better get an HM for this. It's very much Woot's style.

Perfect . . . Enough characters that the shirt feels less restricted in a way.

Does the Woot Community look down on that? I would genuinely rather be in everyone's good graces so I can actually win one of these derbies (a personal dream) than sell a few shirts on CafePress or whatever.

What's the general sentiment?

This is gorgeous. And peaceful. And I'd wear it, even though I...well, let's just say I don't look my best in yellow. But I'd manage: "Makeup!"

Lots of artists here have cafe press stores or the equivalent. Woot doesn't care as long as you don't sub something that you had in a store or you print it before the 60 days is up on their rights holding if it was in a derby first.

Woah...it took a second for me to see the Moreau reference, but once I did it was eerie. Nice work! This has a really creep vibe to it...just like Dr. Moreau.

Re: Sherlock Holmes/20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

Thanks for the kind words, I have to admit it was my choice to go with the Watson/Tentacle thumb. I was hoping it would act as a teaser without revealing the bigger joke, but looks like it has backfired. We'll keep that in mind for later entries.

Re: Treasure Beanstalk (Re-up)

Alright! Got the new one up and ready, with only 6 colors. I'm guessing that black and white would count as part of that, so I had to do a lot of thinking... Probably a stronger piece now!

Comments, suggestions much appreciated! I think I'm starting to figure things out a little better. Thank you for all votes and criticism!
