It's kinda cool, but it's also incredibly faint. I'm not sure I trust the shirt to still look like that after a few washes, especially since none of the lines appear terribly solid/crisp.

The face just looks *odd* to me for some reason I can't really figure out how to articulate. That's not very helpful, since I can't offer suggestions or criticism. But! It's still a really beautiful design

Wonderfully done I have to vote for this, even if it reminds me of the nightmares I had as a kid when I read that book :P

I just wanted to bring a bit this old book feel.
But I can lose the texture, no problem.
Thanks for the suggestions!

I wouldn't worry about a resub. I don't think it detracts a lot in this instance as it is pretty subtle. And it was just my personal opinion - I know that others love the texture. It's always a gamble ;)

Rocks, just rocks - and good job of repositioning so the spear is behind. My FAVORITE color shirt, too. GMV!

Half the entries contain Moby Di.ck so there was bound to be some duplicate ideas, they are executed in completely different ways in any case.

Was totally coming to say this couldn't be printed but it looks like it can be... Good job even though I don't know what books it's referring to.

I get Sherlock Holmes, but what other classic story is supposed to be depicted here? This doesn't seem like a mashup.

At first glance I thought this was an Edgar design, seeing that it was you Jewel, made it all the more exciting. I love this style. Im a huge fan of the facial expressions and their reactions to their current situation.

I'd purchase this instantly.

All I'm saying is that (as pointed out in the pre-derby thread) neither book referenced here is in public domain. Maybe the rejectionator won't be heavy-handed, but if they follow the letter of the rules posted - this design will be stamped. We'll see. If it isn't rejected in the next couple days, I will most certainly add +1.

Muted, summery colors. It's a nice retro vibe and you can pick out the two references right away.

I'm no expert on shirt printing by any means, but from what I've gathered by looking at other shirts in other derbies, don't the details of this seem a bit too fine to print very well?

Nice work! What's there is well done, I wish it weren't just a head though. It seems so random just being stuck there on a shirt.

thanks for the votes & feedback. The drawing was converted to halftones and should print fine. I'll post a close up this weekend. I wanted the style of the design to have that classic, hand-drawn feel. So I put away the tablet and got out the pencil and paper for this one.

Moby D*ck's alternate title was "The White Whale" and the whiteness of the whale, along with the numerous spears sticking out of his body, add to his supernatural facade.

Like it a lot! The only thing I would have added would be some webbing going out to the bowsprit. It looks kind of weird out there not connected to anything. Nice design though!
