So much better! Much clearer. (I was actually going to suggest you resub but then I hesitated in case you were attached to this version). Great resub!

Maybe they're in Los Angeles.

The characters are from the following books:

Big Bad Wolf-Grimm's Fairy Tales
Martian spaceship-War of the Worlds
Dorothy & Toto-The Wizard of Oz
Frankenstein-Mary Shelley
Hunchback-The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Sherlock Holmes
Abraham Lincoln

Thanks for the advice! I'll do a bit of a redesign, I like the idea of her drawing wonderland things.

Would it make sense if she were drawing her cat Dinah..?

Now that I'm thinking of it, she might get a new face too.

Superb layout and a ninja-like touch of color. I freaking love the War of the Worlds alien/ship up there too. Awesome.

Nicely done! I like shirts that are more than just a visual pun or cute animals doing cute things. This is highly wearable.

Thanks for the feedback!

I'm tempted to do a resub with the feedback you have provided, but I'm hesitant since I struggle greatly (for no visible reason) to upload my files, and its a timely, annoying process for me. I tried the new browser people recommended on my last entries comments, yet it didn't seem to help.

I think it could afford to be bigger on the shirt. I like the shape of the head (it has a great silhouette), but I should at a jacket/ shirt collar design, so it doesn't appear to be so random.

Well thanks again for all your input! I greatly appreciate it!

Yeah, I used grey. I started of with the lighter blue shirt color they have, but it seemed more cohesive with the grey.

tgentry wrote:While I like the art, I'm not really sure how on-topic this is. Is any of the imagery shown taken from the actual Book of the Dead, or is the only connection that it's using hieroglyphs? Because if it's the latter it's like saying an entry using letters would be on topic because Moby Dick also uses letters. Since I'm not that familiar with the Book of the Dead, I could be way off base, but I'm just not seeing it. I kind of feel bad even asking about it as this is one of the few wearable shirts up so far.

Thanks both for the compliment as well as the comment. Admittedly, my design isn't as spot on as a melding of the two "books" as most of the other designs. The origins of the idea came from the image of Anubis, the jackal-headed god of the Egyptian afterlife I ran across in my sketchbook. He became the dog in this version of the nursery rhyme. Since the Book of the Dead is a series of funerary hymns and instructions, I thought a nursery rhyme used to get kids to sleep would make for an interesting and funny image. When I dove into the design I figured that would be enough to cover the theme...if it isn't I'm pretty sure I can rework it.

I was mistaken in calling it the Book of Life (that's from another religion entirely). It is the Book of the Dead, though I've heard it called the Book of the Afterlife, too.

Re: Around the World in 20,000 Days

I like the design. Seem's very simple, though I might add that it almost looks as if the squid isn't really hanging onto the balloon. Course, a squid shouldn't be hanging on in the first place, but nevertheless, great idea. I kinda wish the face was bigger though,so it stand's out a bit more on the shirt.

I really like this version better than the other; however, I wish you wouldn't have added the fake distressing. I feel it really takes away from the improvements of design. Just my opinion, though. Good luck!

Hehe... just wondering. What's with the red? Almost feels unnecessary, yet I welcome it as a distinct focal point of the shirt. Though I don't think many people will notice it.

Thanks coolestghoul, geekfactor12, dietotaku, Spiritgreen, bassanimation, grrlmarvel, alaskakatie, keelhaulkate, thejapanesefrog, and odysseyroc for all the nice comments.

And thanks jasneko and nyren for pointed out the issues with the whale's mouth. I thought it looked a little odd but you get pretty use to looking at the image and after awhile you can't tell when it gets weird.

I've resubbed this shirt with fixes that hopefully will make it better and I also adjusted some other stuff that was bugging me. =D

Though the theme might be over done, and Moby the wrong depiction, I still have to say that the shirt looks nice.

Unfortunately, everyone does have a point. Good try nevertheless!

Bing!

Nice improvement. Although I wouldn't have said it needed any, it -is- easier to tell which way the whale is looking now and the ribs are a great touch.

Re: Charlotte's Web/The Lord of the Flies

I like that the grass is disturbed where the spear hits now.

Also, nice to see the pig outrun the spear. Haha.

On another note, it would have been interesting if you'd incorporated glasses onto the pig, or maybe sitting on the ground crushed by the pig. Would have been very interesting, though you've done great without it.

Clever technique (and idea!). I can see the issue some people have with the halftone edges. Is it the comp making them looking a little crunchy? Maybe posting a big image would help. :^)

Neither of these books are in the public domain, but as far as I'm concerned, this is just a shirt with a pig running away from a spear. Nothings blatantly showing Charlotte's Web or Lord of the Flies on this shirt so hopefully it'll pass. And as usual, great work on the shirt. Your stuff always goes underappreciated here so good luck with this design.
