Re: Mono no Aware

Mono no Aware - an empathy for the transience of things. The fleeting beauty of cherry blossoms floating on the surface of a still pond.

Nice, especially for a first sub. You have colors left, and my only suggestion would be something daqrk (dark green or black) for an little depth. Your design and your call, tho.

Re: Wake up Spring

Simple, well-drawn - nice! My only other suggestion would be some 'floor' for context; grass or something. Otherwise, the daisies are just floating in space...

sunniraindrop wrote:I really like it but I wish you'd take the red flower on the left out... too much of the shading is solid and it draws your eye away from the best part of the beautiful artwork!

{{Mod note: advertising your design belongs in your signature, not in your post. Thank you.}}

Thanks for your suggestion, sunniraindrop! I edited my design and erased most of the solid pink on the flower.. I don't think it'll be enough to make a significant difference for this derby since the competition is tough, but I thought I'd try it out anyways. :]

Here's the second version:

[Edit] Fixing the submission since I accidentally put the shirt template outside the printable area... orz ...

ok, this shouldn't have any more problems... ><

Oh, this speaks to me! My koi tatto is wriggling in empathy. But you have colors left - perhaps a splash of water for context, and/or a bit of detail on the blossoms? A little added blue and cranberry would kisk
A$$, IMO.

This is an edited version of my original submission, found here:

The detailed view of the design can be seen on the first post from the original submission (the flower part is different, but everything else is the same).

Thanks for stopping time (again)! :]

Gorgeous. I typically pick one shirt per derby that I really want to win as I'd instantly buy it. This is it this time.

kbloomq1 wrote:Love the illustration! One question though: which of those two male budgies laid those eggs?? :P

With budgies, as with some other species of parrots, the pattern of coloration isn't a good indicator of sex - especially mutated domestic lines. One determining factor in mature budgies is that the area around the nose holes is generally more vividly colored in males and less so in females. I just wanted the two most common colorations to be represented. ;)

Well, not entirely impressionist. But guaranteed 100% spring.

Re: Impressionist Springs

Note: the flower on the left looks different in the comp. It's a weird effect created by the complex pattern zoomed at different sizes. The Detail photo has the the best representation of the flower.

Re: Maniacal Bunnies

The Maniacal Bunnies have a three-step evil plan:
1. Eat your garden.
2. Subdue you with the cuteness.
3. Take over the world.

Five colors on grass green: black, gray, white, pink, blue

You and me both. I have no idea how to mix colors together. I only know how to take a single color and convert it to a half tone.

paigeg wrote:This is so cute, and your style is evident (Yes, even though the ice cream with guts creeped me out, I pay attention). I wish that A, the little guy had a mouth; B, that you had a color left to make that salt into pepper (statement on the American diet notwithstanding) and C, that it was placed higher on the shirt. I really think you are outside the print area. Check your template and make sure it falls within the blue lines on the shirt mockup (that's the Photoshop template I'm referring to; haven't worked with others).

Neat..thanks for the help. To resubmit it with him moved up a little, wouldn't I have to lose all my votes so far though?

I like how you chose to put the design in a circle instead of, say, an actual stained window shape.. I think it works on a T-shirt well and I love the colors! You have my vote.

The humans are dead, and so are the robots!

Spring is the happiest time to be a bird and this year there are so many materials around to build a nest with! This heartwarming design shows a bluebird getting comfy after the impending human-robo-pocalypse. ^___^

Omelets made great, feel better! A shirt isn't worth feeling like dreck.
But if you do, I'm only suggesting some subtle lines on the blossoms, and maybe a switch to a blue shirt, or some easy blue lines to drop shadow here and there, so there is a context of water to the eye. I love the design, though.
Again, feel better!
