Nice, refreshing style I won't comment on the days being inconsistent, since I am apparently too OLD to have read that book. >sigh<

Spring is nature's construction season!

This is my first entry into a woot derby. I'm still figuring out how to use the tools in my drawing program...I've had it for a while, but this is my first attempt to use it. I'm happy I received a few votes already!

Oooh, I love the shape and shinyness of their horns and claws. This is so well drawn and full o' character.

Love it. GMV!

Arrrrgggh! Dropping out of the fog. Dammit - I take back my comments on the colors. This is 100% true to a number of the pieces I have in my home. I will be very angry if penguins win over this. You won't like me when I'm angry.

Re: Robin the Burrow

I'm new, but shouldn't a resubmit say "resubmit" somewhere on the thumbnail so people know to vote again?

Comments on the design: I like the color choices, especially the snake's green emphasizing its shape and it being central to the design. The core of the design is the snake getting yanked, which is a great idea. The snake also has great detail on the scales and how they're stretched around the corners. It has a very nice realistic head also.

The major problem, though, is the other details that *detract* from the snake. It's a great idea to have the bunny using its food as a sword and shield, but in this design it's too small to be easily seen and detracts from the main image - the snake. Same for the carrots in the ground... they're nice carrots, but why bother?

I'd suggest having the bunnies, or one bunny, merely cowering in the corner; exaggerate the snake's "yipe!" expression to be more cartoony (sorry but I don't think a realistic snake head serves you here), and move the robin back a little so the snake's tail bends as sharply as the rest of it does. A sharp bend would also bring the motion back to the robin more. Save the carrot sword idea for a separate design.

Hope this is useful to you.

yeah I meant to add resub in the title... oh well, and thank you for taking the time to comment. I am new to this and input like this is really helpful. I have started to realize that I have a tendency to over complicate designs. and I definitely agree with you that the robin should be further back so there is a sharper bend in in the snake. Thanks again.

I've been staring at this, thinking it's too simplistic. But it isn't. Or it is. The simplicity is integral. Congrats on not over-thinking the design. This is simple, to the point, whimsical... In short, nice design. I need to go fly a paper airplane and reconnect with my younger self... Bye!

Re: Fresh from the Garden

From death - life. A truly shiny take on the cycle of life. Sadly, without mongoose eyes or some REALLY shiny stuff, all those pastels are going to go unappreciated. I love your positive take on grim reality. I don't think it will be received well, but I get it. This is a rare case where you either have to go happy, or grim. No half-measures. This is a half-measure and really is fun. You have a great take on the theme, and I want to see more from you!

Re: Bombs Away Birds

Those little Kamikaze birds have some big-ass nests. I think I'm thrown by the disparity between those huge nests, and the one tuft of tree-green. I love the colors, but I'd like to see the nests and greenery blend more. And the birds look stiff and doll-like. More bend in the leg, especially, would help. I'm still smiling...

Re: Texas Spring

" I think this could potentially be an iconic design"
Oh, yeah. You need to clean it up, pop the blue bonnet a bit more (larger), and lose the muddy red coloring that you're using for the depth in the background. It isn't necessary. Punch up the eyes and snout, darker... This could be a bit more than a Woot shirt, so don't give up if it doesn't get a lot of votes. It's very specific to Texas, and could really rock as the logo for state tourism, a camp, the parks department... You see where this is going...
BTW, my Bluebonnets are almost done here in Upstate NY. But I do love them so! What a nice, vivid punch of bright blue to start my Spring...

Glad you folks like it- maybe it can crack the top 20 with a late surge. (They print the top 20, right?)

haha sorry it got so long... I like the way you made the design, I think something more accurate wouldn't look right on a shirt - you'd need that snake going up and around and all over the shirt! Other than size, the snake looks to be a pretty accurate representation and I really love the texture you used. Besides you're an artist, you do get to take some liberties!

I don't always need my shirts to be completely accurate, just full of awesome :-)
