I don't think there's been a single suggestion in this thread that wouldn't completely ruin the shirt. Excellent work. Leave it that way.

i love the owls and the leaf wall but it's so big and square! it might work better in a more amorphous shape? and with a few fewer owls? its a great idea just maybe taken a little too far? just a thought...

either way, its awesome! good work!

I agree with this... it would be more wearable for me with a more organic/less rectangular shape... a few less owls might work also. Nonetheless, very nice - overall, I love the little owls in the leafy pattern!

Re: The Rite of Spring

Thanks for the comments and votes!

@graffd02: What I really loved about this opening measure and the reason that I thought it was perfect for this kind of design was that it wasn't busy at all. It was a long silent pause followed by just a hint of something coming to life. Like everything is still kind of thawing out and waking up before the first bits of color start popping up. To me Stravinsky couldn't have written a better or more fitting opening to Spring.

Anyway I really appreciate the response!

Why did the shirt "Springtime! What a Relief!" get rejected???!!! It says "off topic", but clearly this shirt is about bears coming out of hibernation because it is springtime. Come on Woot. I got owned by woot!?

Farthest left, higher of the two, looks strangely familiar.

You realize that you are now plagiarizing since woot owns the shirt that the aforementioned bunny came from, right?

If this shirt causes them to put up a 'no sequels' shirt, then so be it. But I'd say that's up to Woot to decide, not you.

Thanks paigeg, stingray69 and Laureenmt for the positive feedback. I was concerned it wasn't the best thumbnail to represent the piece and thought it might be overlooked. Glad you found it.

I'm Australian, so the difference eludes me. I suspect European Robin's are more proficient in needlework.

Plagiarizing is the act of taking another's work and claiming it as your own. FableFire made the original, so by definition it is impossible for her to plagiarize it.

According to woot's terms and conditions FableFire retains copyright. Woot only claims exclusive license and requires non competition.

...I might get slammed for this, as it's my first day commenting, but I agree. How is sleepy bears coming out of hibernation off topic, but Awkward Picnic, Covering the Nothing, and Snail Picnic are not? And those are all great designs.

I think your other carnivorous rabbit tshirt was done simpler, and better because of that. This one doesn't really make sense. Your first one played on the idea of a rabbit trying to be carnivorous; this one is playing off the fact that you made that shirt already and as a stand-alone design I don't think it works because rabbits are--gasp--vegetarians.

I remember when you first posted this in the preview thread ages ago. It's great to see the final product!

The critters make me think of where the wild things are crossed with troll dolls.

The expression really make this design. The two on the right are my favorite.

I agree, to a point. But even if you don't own the original, many people know of it (especially at the conventions I've been to) and the inside joke aside, it's just so ridiculous that it'll still get a big laugh out of most people. :D

Here's something rabbit-related folks might like, and it's even relevant. :D

This is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! The colors are perfection as is the design! I honestly wouldn't change the size of the design on the shirt. If the design look just as it does on the model shirt, then it is absolutely perfect as it is, in my honest opinion. I DEFINITELY want this shirt when it comes out! You have my vote!

Thanks guys! I figured this was the last derby that would ever possibly allow me to finish and submit this image. (I'm sure Woot will ban bunnies again for a long time) Glad you like the final. ^^ I know it won't appeal to many people, but it was very fun to work on.

Re: SimpleGreen

It's a strong clean design, I think it's just too simple for a T-shirt, especially with the standard of complexity in these contests. However it would make a great logo on a small scale, as on a business card or letterhead.

The sunrises and the trees stretch as spring pushes off a blanket of winter snow.

Paigeg mentioned the halftones on the snow feeling off, so I thought I'd try a flat/no-half-tones version of the design.

Hope everyone enjoys it!

Okay: I positively, definitely, assuredly have absolutely no opinions (nope, nuh-uh, none) about the design or any possible motives behind this design that I want to share. But as far as topicality goes and ostensible reasons for being considered a new shirt and not 2.0? Even Killer Rabbits might want to thoroughly cleanse their caves comes Spring (the humanoidish skulls and actual cave make the case).

First of all, you can plagiarize yourself if you no longer own the rights to your words or art (i.e.: a company publishes your book or article which is why you have to cite yourself if you are published and reference a previously published article). However, I was unaware of woot's agreement and I agree, it appears Fable owns the idea. I've never submitted anything so I hadn't seen it.

That doesn't change the fact that this is just a more confusing version of her first shirt. Thus, this is a completely unoriginal idea.

As the moderator pointed out (which even watching her create this one, I actually didn't even think about it. Some nerd I am >.>) the shirt can be shown as having strong ties to the Killer Rabbit from The Holy Grail. The cave and humanish bones can lend to that take on the shirt beyond being a sequel to the "Try This" shirt.

And even though I don't own the 'original', I'm highly amused by this one and considering purchasing it.

And not all 'sequels' are unoriginal. Have you considered that she actually liked that shirt she did and saw a fun opportunity to do a follow up? Artists love that sort of thing. Or maybe you think Super Mario Brothers should have stopped after the original NES or arcade version?
