I keep forgetting that it automatically sensors certain words. Its a bummer that it got rejected.

jjhatch wrote:Funny enough, I think this is somewhat like the true story behind the photo. I remember seeing something on the TV where the sailor just grabbed a random nurse and kissed her... I don't think they had a relationship at all.

It is a true story! That is why I got so
excited about this theme.

He actually married the girlfriend he was with when the photo was taken. She was just a random nurse. That is why they had such a hard time finding the two individuals.

Thanks for all the nice comments about the conception and design of our shirt!

Fantastic Jas, amazing!

Just change the small image (the preview image). Didn't like my original pick... don't know if it really makes a difference or not, but I needed peace of mind!

Ninjas with chainsaws on sharks is awesome. I love the peg legged parrot. And doing it with 2 tones: impressive.

Eyewitness reports contradict what the company's telling the townspeople. It wasn't a race against some steam powered spike driver that killed Big john, it was him putting down the company's new steam powered "smart" locomotive that started running amok...

Resubbed from the steampunk derby (hopefully with enough changes), 5 colors on creme.

edit: For those unfamiliar with John Henry, here's a good article about him.

edit #2: Also, here's a version of the battle set to music. Not for the feint of heart!

I won't comment on how well it holds to the derby guidelines because I feel it is a little too restrictive as it is that I think there is a need for some wiggle room.

But what kills this for me is the placement on the shirt. If I want an off-center design, I want it low, not high. Just my two cents.

Ya! It's obviously Stalin!

Oh, wait. He's worse. We were just buddy-buddy with him for a while. Whoops.

But I know I've seen this concept before. If it gets rejected, it'd be for that reason IMO.

This shirt is absolutely glorious. I want it on my person. I am also now adopting this story as fact. If they had taught me history like this in school, I might still remember it all. GMV for sure. Excellent job!

hmmm. I hadn't thought of that. The guy in college had a red Che t-shirt.

But what the hell. Got nothing to lose on this design.

The reflection in the alien's eyes is a creative idea. Nice!

I really love this. I think the designs could be *slightly* bigger, but I still like having a lot of that negative space. Just big enough to get it from about 10 feet away; currently, I think it might be a bit too small for that.

Also: your thumbnail doesn't do it justice.

GMV! And if you resub a larger one, that one does as well!

Agreed. If the TV was killing the "Radio Star" it becomes more applicable to the theme. Or, as I PMed CC, if a VCR was doing it even better ("put the blame on VCR").

Clearly one of the most creative pirates vs. ninjas I have seen out there. I am going to stare at the details for a while and admire your work.

How is this at all on topic???

Where is the historical event?

Where is the eye witness?

This does not follow the theme even slightly

Night shirts are tough but it's tough to see the dark squid and dark boat design on a dark blue shirt. If you submitted a version where it was easier to see the design I'd vote for it though because it's a clever design.

theWanker wrote:I had not considered that. There indeed could be an alternate reality that happened because in one universe the ship explodes when it hits the statue, and the statue inexplicably remains unscathed.

I find your version both believable and worthy.

(I wrote everything above with Comic Book Guy telling me what to say in my head.)

I just gotta say... you're gonna Comic Book Guy on the statue not being around at the right time and all, but the fact that the island is in the Pacific and the Titanic sunk in the Atlantic isn't worth a mention? ;)

Oh yeah I totally remember when this happened in History class...not

Its a phenomenal design...you have major artistic skill, but unfortunately the theme was bystanders at historical events, and

1. This never happened
2. There is no bystader at all

I unfortunately have to agree. This is beyond awesome, but it really has nothing to do with anything as far as this theme goes.

To be fair, this has got to be one of the weakest themes to date. For God's sakes, Draxxx made a design with Ben Franklin in it.
