And it's a cute shirt, but is anyone but an uber geek going to recognize those little triangles as cursors?

So, this is going to be a great shirt to recognize the uber geeks in the crowd! Just wear it, and when someone in a crowd looks at you and smiles - you'd immediately know who it is!!!

Should have thrown in a single 80's era Macintosh turtle (monochrome of course) just for good measure

No one will ever get this shirt without reading the title first.

So far nothing is jumping out at me.

Morse Code was the first thing I thought of when I saw this shirt as well.

Yeah right? I thought the same thing, but I didn't know if it was here that I saw it.

I was hoping that the tree/stumps would spell out something in morse code or bacon cipher. But I'm too lazy to try too hard on figuring out if there is a hidden message.

I thought the same thing and I went into the forums to see if anyone else recognized it.

Not sure where I've seen it though.

At least I know I wasn't the only one.

Cheerz!

snerk.

Seriously, the details are too small for a shirt, and too boxy. It could have worked, but I don't think it did.

I bet it sells a lot, though, since it isn't original to woot, and has been skipping around the internet for a while. That's quite a business plan, woot!

Ouch... that must be painful!!!!

Now that would make an interesting shirt design!

Hi! It is I, Nathan. This is my first sale on woot, and I'm so pumped!

Just FYI - the image has made its way around the web, especially after some awesome exposure on Gizmodo, thenextweb, and gotopublicschool - then on to swiss-miss and shoopthat, etc.

Ignoring the lumberjacks and the not-all-the-way-up-or-down tree, and discounting the last tree (has to be multiples of 8), it's just a bunch of brackets and ampersands and numbers and pound signs (woot's server freaked out when I tried pasting it here). Most would think this means binary code was not intentionally used by the author, but it's obvious to my paranoid mind that he KNEW we would check that and ENCRYPTED his message before encoding it to binary (hence woot's refusal to post the decrypted binary encrypted message)!

Its not binary, doesn't compute :P

bigjoe87865 wrote:wow... no one noticed that those are called pointers and not cursors?

Some call them cursors, some pointers. The problem stems (IMO) from Microsoft's documentation once referring to the pointer as a cursor and the text cursor as a caret. Dunno if they ever bothered to fix it, but pointer and cursor are now forever doomed to be used interchangeably.

At first glance I thought it was that old arcade game (can't remember the name) where you shoot at rows of invading enemies that shift side to side. But only it was Christmas trees attacking. Then I got it, and it became funnier.

Now I wonder to myself, is there some sort of morse code hiding in the design?

Lumberjacks cut down trees for lumber.
Would these be Pointjacks cutting down cursors for pointers?

Cute. But unfortunately doesn't quite rise to the level of earning my 10 bucks and a place in my t-shirt drawer. Then again, few do.

Definitely one I would love to get as a Random Shirt, not that I've ever ordered a Random Shirt in my life, but I'm just sayin'.

My family and I used to cut our own cursors, but we switched to plastic because they always dropped pixels on the ground and the trunks were always sticky with sap.

These don't look like any of the cursors I wrote in my SQL Server 2000 stored procedures years ago.

Nor does it look like the friendly flashing green cursor on the old monitors I coded CICS from in the '80s.

I'm just a cranky, cantankerous, computer using curmudgeon.

Doesn't look like the holes in the punch cards I used coding 1620 SPS in the '60's either.
