Re: Pandas for Peace

Nice execution on the rock poster idea! It would have been easy to end up too rectangular but it looks good on a shirt. :^)

I think this might just be my favorite of the whole derby. It's simplicity makes it extremely wearable. Great one!

Thanks! I tried to make it asymmetrical- really needed something in the lower right but just couldn't find something to go there that fit without being too busy- the bamboo was already pushing it..

alexmdc wrote:I used the heathergrey pantone color for the background that was provided by woot, so it should work for the heather grey

Well it should work but Woot adds another complication for Heather gray in that there is a separate texture the artist has to use on their shirt or they get rejected. The texture
has to be on the design so people know what the final product will look like. You can find the texture here: http://files.woot.com/HeatherGray_Scaled.png

kabooma, this was entered on Sunday, which is a little late for an entry to get into the fog. To make up for that, you need to advertise it or to ask everyone you know that vote for it.

Re: Schrodinger's Cat

Thanks everyone for all the comments and votes. This is actually the first time I've managed to stay in the fog from the very beginning. YAY!

I've never had a shirt printed before at woot so it seems like a real up hill climb for the poor cat. Please tell some friends if you like it.

Mostly I'm just really happy to have been in the fog for most of this derby. Thanks so much guys!

I think the background looks great! We just returned from a trip to Disney World & the best t-shirts there were printed on black. Another great job, Truffle!

I'd hate to see you leave as well man. Your a wonderful artist, and your attitude towards the site and the weekly contest is one many here should aspire to.

It's true that you just don't know what to expect when you put work up here, even for those that try to do stuff that are like shirts that typically win. It's always a gamble.

I've been using the weekly contest as a way to keep me drawing and motivated with artwork, so even if it goes nowhere, I gave it a shot, and was artistically active for the week. Otherwise, I would just play video games.

Again, I would hate to not be able to see your artwork each week, but as long as you keep at it somewhere else, it's good. Just know man, you will be missed around here.

Thanks Drak. I think the big thing for me right now is that between work and this, I feel like I've been doing nothing but grinding. I think I need to step away from that "deadline" side of things here to work on refining what I do. Before doing the derbies, I hadn't seriously drawn anything in about a decade, so this has been great for me in that regard. It was just starting to turn into work part 2, instead of a release. Like I said earlier, if a topic really grabs me, I'll probably do a design, as long as I can have some fun.

I do plan on staying active in the community here. I really like this site and have met some cool people here. I'd hate to just leave and not keep up with what's going on. I'm hoping to sort of recharge and come back strong in a month or two or however long it takes for me to think it's fun again.

Love everything about it but that blue triangle. Everything bleeds so well across itself but it looks that thing is just stamped on.

Almost can't buy it.

Wondering if I'm the only one that sees that?

Eh...artist's prerogative, though...

Thanks for the input indihar... i did a resub when i guess i should have posted both versions. I'm still pretty new to all this derby stuff!

Finally a good lost shirt. and not only that but its cool as a stand alone design as well. Could you submit it on different colors? I feel like it would look fantastic on blue or navy.

1) Make standard animal joke
2) Color it purple (CRAZY!!!)
3) Win derby while being totally off theme.
4) Profit!

Re: Confused chameleon RESUB

Nicely drawn, and nice color choice for the intent of the piece, but I'm not a fan of this style of half-tone usage. I mean, it looks great at a distance, but close up, it's kinda looks like a mess to me. Also, heavy saturation on the shirt = unhappy when perspiring.

thanks so much for the comment! Unfortunately it's probably too late for me to submit another color and have it go anywhere in the derby. If it doesn't make it here I may try a different color on another site. I'll let people know if that's the case. Godspeed!
