The derby this week is looking for altered states of consciousness. My personal take on this idea is inner peace. I believe that it is my favorite altered state of consciousness because it is always attainable if you can bring your mind to the right places.

OOPS! just saw the typo previously mentioned.
If you fix that, this will definitely be vote-worthy. I love the monochromatic look combined with the splash of color at the end. And the hair reminds me of Al Hirshfeld drawings, where he hid his daughter's name all over the place.

I think you have set yourself up for disappointment. The derby description clearly states,"Give us your take on the swirling patterns, kaleidoscopic colors, and fractal designs of psychedelic art." This would have been excellent in the Japan derby.

I like the idea of this design and the strong red and white color choice. I almost don't think you need so many colors in the text at the bottom. Maybe a single strong golden brown or green or yellow. A color that would vibrate against that red might be nice.

I sort of wish there were more flowers to it. That part of the shirt gets a little lost. Maybe instead of swirly hair she could have hair made of flowers? They could be layered in a repeating pattern that still kind of looked like hair. =D

Also as vrubinst mentioned "Psychedelic" appears to be misspelled.

Over all it's rather striking. Good luck!

This is absolutely on target. I am concerned about the shirt color, making this more posterish tee-shirtish. But the lettering and the artwork are spot on.

What happened to the original? I voted for that one, but....I don't know...I looked at this one...just doesn't look as "nice" to me, as that one did. (Doesn't look as smooth and "swirly" as that one did. And the words look...chunky? Clunky?)
