  • Your one and only gift is this crappy little badge in your shirt thread. Enjoy.
  • You're my pride and joy, etc.

Thanks for the mention! I really appreciate it!

Re: The Moment

What an incredible color choice. It's so gritty and yet puts a smile on my face.

Kudos.

Then go to CafePress and type "power switch shirt" into the search field. I'm sure you'll find something great for your brother's birthday.

I really appreciate the comments and the support!

When I started this I had a different image in my mind for the final project but as usual projects have a mind of their own.

here's a video of their last match against each other. jupiter took a major beating but was able to overcome shoemaker's offense with a julian sized defense

Re: 2129

I'm not going to do it. I just won't stoop so low as to beg for any last minute votes from people. I mean, what good would it really do me to ask everyone to "please, please, please vote for this" or to say something like "it was my grandmother's dying wish that this particular t-shirt that she didn't live to see would win". That would just be shameful, and I'm not going to do it.

And this.
This derby theme was fakon-o to start with. I think patrickspens at least delivered a wearable design, well executed. It's generic, yeah. But it's at least well-crafted.

AdderXYU wrote:If teefury can sell tees that are 100% reproductions of a single non-free-use reference photo, I wager woot can sell a tee that has not been proven to have any actual photographs used.

you can feel free to cite the photos you feel were used for the clouds, if you actually have any. Unless you mean the clearly drawn part is a photo, which is kinda funny if so.

1.Teefury =/= Woot.

2. If you can't tell that the cloud and stars were lifted from photographs you need to spend some more time looking at images on the internet. (I seriously doubt that this is the case for you Adder)

3. Why would I have the photos that the artist used so that I could post them?

4. If Woot has changed its policy for derby submissions then this design is great.

kdubbs29 wrote:Thanks Tico. I am admittedly biased towards "graphic" tees as opposed to illustrative ones. My personal love is designing logos and especially sports logos. That is where I generally come from. This site generally has a different taste in design than me, which is fine. Hopefully there is room for both styles to coexist.

I'm 100% with you on this. I like this shirt in that it looks like a regular sports shirt that a soccer club might sell, but then you begin to look closer and see the fun stuff. If you made it all spacey and ethereal it would disconnect it from the real World Cup. I hope this one wins.

chumpmagic wrote:Dude. Your design for goodjoe is too awesome. All your stuff is cool, but I really REALLY enjoy that one. TOO GOOD! I created you an account and gave you the highest rating available ( I think I did at least... brand new to their site).

I didn't know about that site. I will probably join that contest as well because these little challenges are lots of fun.

Thanks very much! I'm glad you like the design. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it prints over there, but, because it's a lesser known site, it takes a bit longer to accrue ratings and comments and other positive types of attention that get you printed.

Goodjoe is a good site though with a really positive goal and you should definitely participate. I'll keep an eye out for your work

I'm pretty sure the issue has always been copyrighted images. I've seen designs that had photos in the past that were allowed so long as they weren't copyrighted. My guess is that woot just doesn't want what we see on teefury all the time, and are willing to let designs like this get the pass.

thatrobert wrote:You're saying you're disappointed by how similar it looks to the MLB logo? A bit closer to NBA logo (and many other sports logos) I'd say. I'm taking the familiar elements (2 colors separated by a white silhouette) in order to make a fictional logo look a bit more real.

Ya, I understand what you were trying to do but I think it overpowered your design a little bit because I thought baseball when I saw your soccer logo. Don't get me wrong, I like it. I just wish the MLB elements were a little toned down to let the design shine. It didn't need the reference.

If there isn't proof, even if it "looks like" it was a photo, it should err on the side of the artist. It's not as if they can prove they didn't use a photo in some way without recording their entire process (which they couldn't do retroactively, obviously)

Really wish someone would provide some insight into just *why* "power button designs" get rejected. Completely off topic shirt, yes, but it would be a nice shirt to have printed none the less. Don't understand why people here are saying "Omelets made great power button!" like it's some universal evil or something...
