Re: Phase to Phase

As a meteorologist, I must have this.

But technically, this is only two states. Clouds are comprised of liquid water droplets. Plain ol' air is where your water vapor is.

This is still a great shirt for a meteorologist, though :D

I would argue he's getting the pro-troll vote.

At beginning of this year Adder encouraged everyone to do something cool each day. Saddly, the cynical and sarcastic nature of this post is NOT cool.

Social revolution is always cool. But really, if my idea was so uncool, why did you make the same idea after commenting that mine sucked?

This is still the same exact concept as a Threadless shirt. Saying otherwise proves huge bias and ignorance.

Cute Cerberus Has Been Done. And in a style that can't be confused for a thousand deviant art users. It doesn't matter if it is not on sale. It is done done done. It is a classic, well known threadless tee. If someone drew a bear on an ATV jumping from an explosion in a different style, certain people would legit be upset. Because they did it first.

And yes, I saw Fable's other Cerberus, which has the same style and color scheme and topic. To me this is less defense of her and more proof that this is unoriginal. And still even that one was the same concept as the long-since-printed Threadless tee.

I don't see how this is offensive or deletable. It is obviously the same concept. If people can't see the similarity, it is because they don't grasp what makes art original.

Spiritgreen wrote:Beautiful cartoony drawing & colors, fablefire! This is a great take on a classic character.

And of course it's nonsense for anyone to say similar shirts exist just because this is a young cerberus. That'd be like saying no-one could make another shirt with a fireman or an octopus. It's the concept and style that defines the shirt, and yours is original on both counts.

A fireman is not a concept. A fireman made of flames is. An octopus is not a concept. An octopus playing 4 different instruments is. Cerberus is not a concept. Cerberus as a playful, cute young puppy is. Because Cerberus is known as an adult demon dog.

Style only counts when you're not aping a concept. If you draw The Communist Party's concept in a different style, it should still be rejected without prejudice.

Re: Three Simple Rules

I was also a bit confused before the post cleared it up. Mostly because the poses looked much like fencing positions and I kept asking myself "Self, what does swordplay have to do with the victims here?"

Myself did not respond to this querry. He's kind of a jerk that way.

Give a man a fire, he's warm for the night. Set a man on fire, he's warm for the rest of his life.

SeedUvPain wrote:Thanks! yeah the boxes are really there to tie everything together and make it one cohesive unit. I mean, who would want a shirt of random characters just floating in open space, barely interacting with each other?

If the boxes werent there, the shirt would look more like a grid, or just a field of characters. Although the point has been made that you've really captured a still of motion, which might have done the trick. Either way, it's gorgeous.

It vaguely reminds me of Eskimo Joes. Its a Oklahoma thing, not sure if anyone else might get it. If it wins I would were one right in the restaurant/store just to see the double takes.

Interestingly enough, a Christian message. Don't know if you realized that your title actually comes from the book of Ecclesiastes. It's often read at marriage ceremonies pointing to the strength of the union of the man and woman together with God.

. . . WHAT? XD Wow, that was such circular mis-directive logic that I had to read it a few times to even figure out what you were trying to say. No, a fireman is not a concept. Neither is making the fireman a woman or a boy. Making Cerberus young, or in this case, MORE DOG-LIKE AND PLAYFUL (because believe it or not, many dogs are playful past the age of being a damned puppy) is not a concept, either.

The concept is him being in training, new to his task, and chasing down the souls. He's not interacting with souls in any of those other mentioned t-shirts. He's just sitting there in those. He's also drawn entirely differently in every one of them. I don't see you harassing tjost about his bar shirt. Quit setting a double standard. That shirt shouldn't be rejected, and neither should this one.

Drakxxx - Thank you so much!! They were definitely a challenge.
TobiasAmaranth - Hmm, I suppose you're right. I think the left one is the one that looks the most off when you put it that way. Thanks for your input!
itsacritter - with big teeth and glowing eyes! :'D
jacknoir - haha, good one ;]. Thanks! Glad you like the color choices! I don't work with black t-shirts often, so it was kinda weird to work with out a real lineart. I also tried to limit myself on colors to prevent it from looking too bright. Worked out well in a way I wouldn't have planned out originally.

I like this idea a lot! I think it would be even better if you put the C:\How\They_Run.exe below the image. Unfortunately I guess that's not an option for this derby

This kicks so much ass. Loved the lineart (as always) in the pre-derby thread. And I must say, the color choices are PERFECT. Love the red for the last panel. Definitely feeling that doom, like I'm about to get a game over in a video game ;]

Nice work, guys!

SO yummy looking. I swear I wanna run to the package of Chips Ahoy in our kitchen everytime I see this. Actually, the blue t-shirt really gives it that Chips Ahoy package look P: Love the bold outlines on the outsides - they really help them pop. *munches on the trilo-bites* OM NOM NOM.

As a heads up for the future, be careful where you put your signature. As it is now, it looks like you mean for it to be on the shirt itself.

I really like the design. Doesn't look like it will place, but I would have picked one up for a friend if it had printed. She's got a thing for birdcages.

I'd have to agree that the boxes are a bit odd to me. I understand the reasoning for them, but I think it's too much. Perhaps the line is too thick and/or the black is too dark. I'd love to see what it look like with maybe a dashed line and/or in that darker blue you used.

I also agree with everyone that the expressions are awesome!
