They kind of have stretched chins/ faces too. Is just my style... long everything except the torso.

The hands are still pretty thin and gentle, so I wouldn't call them manly.. maybe E.T.ish but not manly.

[Gasp!] You say that like it's a bad thing.

Some folks have just got a little too much fabulous to be confined to just one. And everyone else is just jealous ;)

Resubmit on an actual woot shirt template. Woot sadly does not offer purple shirts.

capedcrusader - thanks for pointing out the weirdly shaped head in the first version. I spent so much time tweaking the main part of the drawing that I didn't even pay much attention to the outline. Looks much better now!

Re: Reinterpreting Don Quixote by Picasso

Just wanted to say I highly doubt there is going to be a more "wear-able" shirt in this derby. This just works as a t-shirt. Really spectacular. Got my vote.

capitalsown wrote:I don't mean to be a buzz kill, but there is no actual painting titled "Dogs playing poker". No famous one, anyway. That's just a colloquial name for a lot of CM Coolidge paintings featuring dogs playing poker.

If it makes you feel better the painting he's referencing is actually titled "A friend in need" and its the most famous in the popularly titled "Dog's Playing Poker" series. But ultimately, who cares? its a good concept

Re: Red Dot

Title: Red Dot

Inspiration: My cats, Zelda and Kari (car-ee), and their relentless hunt for the little red dot! Also the painting Red Dot by Dina Herrmann.

Six Colors on Grass.

This is my second submission into the derby and wooo boy did I have a hard time coming up with an idea. So many potential titles.

Thanks! And you're right it does look pretty good on black too. Does anyone know if it's a nono to submit the same design twice on different color shirts?

I agree with everything you said except that I think that Energy Harvester and this shirt are expressing the same idea; or at least both can be interpreted the same. Drakxxx design is a stretch at best, but I think Harvester is pretty damn close to this.

I really hope this wins. I'm a costumer/seamstress on the side and I've been wanting to make a T-shirt dress, this would be perfect to base it around.

I am glad to see this on here. I considered doing something with the The Burning Giraffe but I worried that it would be too obscure. Based on these responses I guess I was way off. Great job!

AdderXYU wrote:It is, of course, arguable that this isn't reinterpreting the title at all, but instead parodying the work. The title of the piece is "we can do it," not "Rosie the Riveter." This is offtheme.

Though it is usually referred to as the "We can do it" poster, as your link suggests, that is not its title. Propaganda posters have no titles.

That does not negate your conclusion, of course.
