Thanks capedcrusader514!

Generally, I try to keep the width of my designs within the 10 to 12 inch range, so they don't start wrapping around the torso. I errored on the small side this time (10 inches maximum width). Following your advice, I rescaled it to max out the height and the design works a bit better now.

Question: What width do you assume the blank t-shirt template is? I've always assumed it's about 22 inches wide (1/2 the maximum chest diameter of a men's large AA).

apeman wrote:Thanks for your comment. I do believe my design is in fact literal you are correct as I wanted to keep it on theme which it is. However I don't understand how it is lazy, this did in fact take me a fair amount of time to create and finish so in terms of effort I don't feel the lazy aspect. And about the creativity, its there. Just because I am not poking fun at something does not mean I am not interpreting. The goal of this design specifically was to show as the title declares a nice scenic drive where its just nature and the highway synchronized in a scenic moment. I understand you may not have viewed it the same way I have but I hope you see my point of view as well.

Lazy as in the idea, not as in time put into execution. I have NO idea how long a shirt takes to design. A scenic image for road trip is a lazy idea and it lacks creativity. I hate the "make fun of something" shirts, but it seems like you (and a lot of other designers) don't understand that completely literal and funny are not the only two options that exist, though. And you're not interpreting if "it is in fact literal."

Sounds abut right to me, I wouldn't worry to much about it though. That mockup looks great.

I really like this design. I also love that it has that chalky artwork look to it. It's a fun medium!

Also, I can see why some people wouldn't but I don't see any reason to be a homeskillet about it either. There are many much less attractive designs.

Bleh, I was going to vote until I clicked the thumbnail and saw that it *wasn't* ATHF. More anthropomorphic wads of meat please.

Homeskillet? How dumb. Fine, I'll be more polite. No reason to be a jerk, especially when you've never even taken the time or put forth a creative idea.

Thanks for the votes everyone. I'm really happy with how the shirt's doing. It's not super funny, or really cute, just a simple and fun design I wanted to make.

I'm going to vote/buy this shirt just because of those haters that are gonna hate. Your design is very nice and it is exactly as described, a scenic drive, no one can knock you for that

jb2colorado wrote:I am earnestly getting upset about these derbys (derbies?) this is a wearable shirt for anyone. the artwork is fantastic but it's not in your face or something that needs to be thought about a ton. it's just a great shirt, with a simple theme, that is well illustrated. I can't imagine anyone outside of some DnD players (I had the misfortune of being in Indianapolis this past weekend when something called GenCon was going on) or some WoW-heads actually wearing any of the above shirts. This shouldn't be about what is just clever or gives a quick laugh, but what is actually a wearable shirt and not just a novelty gift. And that, ladies and gents, is called venting.

im sure grouping dnd players and "wow" heads in a group and insulting them is a great way for this design to get noticed. maybe you should just let the design speak for itself. i am curious what makes the shirts above this only wearable by the above formentioned group. the way i see it there are a lot of designs above this that are also great shirts, with a simple theme, that are well illustrated.

Actually, it is a generic pedestrian crossing sign. Not specific to one kind of building or religion.

Excellent concept. Better artwork needed. Don't like the dock. Off a beach or something would be better.

I figure some people didn't have a problem with the old version, and obviously not everyone will like either version, but it was worth it to me to fix the composition.

Thanks!

Yeah, I don't know why this didn't get more votes, it's very cool and very wearable. I always like these more stylistic entries. All I can think is that there are alot of 13 year-old girls on woot who vote alot, especially when designs like this don't win against the stuff at the top.

I thought the image extremely poignant since it evoked my sense of nostalgia, but the fact that it is your daughter makes it even more indelible. Thanks for sharing!

That wooden sword still gets a lot of play! We are close to one of the forts Lewis & Clark stopped at on their journey (Fort Massac in southern Illinois), so we have local re-enactments a few times a year. We never seem to be able to leave without a new sword for one of our kids...

Beautiful layout. I especially enjoy the off center bat mobile, and the hair pin turn of the road gives a wonderful illusion of movement as it draws the eyes towards the city. Well done!
