This is the only shirt I want, and I really really want it! Bummer it's so low on the list. >

After checking the derby for a couple of days, I keep coming back to this design. It's a road trip, it's funny. I love it now, and I will buy this thing on Friday (cause it's the winner without a doubt.)

I think this was my favorite out of this derby. So fun and really nicely drawn. Ah well, I will sit and wonder what could have been. This is a fantastic shirt, I hope the artist will consider submitting it elsewhere! (pssst Threadless)

Re: Roadzilla

This looks cool, fdabney04!

Try resubmitting your design. The site is screwy at the moment but you should be fine so long as: you make sure you have a 240x240 jpg for your detail, a 580x580 jpg for your shirtcomp (that shows the design's placement on the shirt somewhere), and your print-ready file anything up to 4800x6000 with the colors separated into layers.

You can delete this entry with the red X to the right of your image.

Good luck!

Nice!

I would have liked to see you play with the difference in size more - the mouse looks about as big as the elephants. But you've GMV. :^)

Re: It's not where you're going...

Funny, just the right thickness of pen, and the dotted line makes the layout work (which can be really hard for something with a lot of separate elements).

Awesome work! +1

TheFlyingLime wrote:What exactly does that pentagonal sign mean, anyway? Date crossing?? Or shoppers?

It means church crossing. The same sign with kids running means School yard. Ya know Sometimes people are in such a rush to get to church, they don't look both ways !

Re: Yellow Brick Road Trip

I am earnestly getting upset about these derbys (derbies?) this is a wearable shirt for anyone. the artwork is fantastic but it's not in your face or something that needs to be thought about a ton. it's just a great shirt, with a simple theme, that is well illustrated. I can't imagine anyone outside of some DnD players (I had the misfortune of being in Indianapolis this past weekend when something called GenCon was going on) or some WoW-heads actually wearing any of the above shirts. This shouldn't be about what is just clever or gives a quick laugh, but what is actually a wearable shirt and not just a novelty gift. And that, ladies and gents, is called venting.

What shirts are you referring to that are only for Wowheads?

Re: Road Trip to Moon

Agreed, this is a great design and if you can get it down to 6 colors, please resubmit! It deserves to print

I would suggest dropping the green, and making the yellow-orange building color into straight yellow (to match the moon). That means you need to get rid of one more color, but the design really works well with the colors it has. So, I think making the darkest blue buildings a halftone of the medium blue and your black tshirt background could solve that. They wouldn't look as nice and solid as they do now, but if you did a good job then I think it would work out great.

If you can't get it down to 6 without sacrificing what you like about your design, go submit on Threadless, see how it does!

I'm curious how Wizard of Oz could be considered a shirt that only DnD or Wowheads would wear... it's a pretty classic American film/book.

Ok, probably not, but I still want this one.

I'm so excited that your daughter is carrying around a wooden sword. I did that for years in my attempts to emulate Martin the Warrior from the Redwall books. I thought the image extremely poignant since it evoked my sense of nostalgia, but the fact that it is your daughter makes it even more indelible. Thanks for sharing!

kylemittskus wrote:So god damn literal. This just feels lazy. There's no creativity; there's no interpretation of the theme; there's nothing interesting about it.

Thanks for your comment. I do believe my design is in fact literal you are correct as I wanted to keep it on theme which it is. However I don't understand how it is lazy, this did in fact take me a fair amount of time to create and finish so in terms of effort I don't feel the lazy aspect. And about the creativity, its there. Just because I am not poking fun at something does not mean I am not interpreting. The goal of this design specifically was to show as the title declares a nice scenic drive where its just nature and the highway synchronized in a scenic moment. I understand you may not have viewed it the same way I have but I hope you see my point of view as well.
