Oragutan Mating Guide this is quite possibly the cutest/most otterific thing I have ever seen. GMV! Nice job!

"Bigus Footicum" would bother me to no end since there ARE easy-to-find Latin words for both. It's that same kind of annoyance that stems from people adding an "o" to a word to make it sound Spanish.

I disagree with the others, I like it just the way it is. The colors are perfect.

I actually think the halftoning works out really well - the overall composition might seem too flat without it. GMV!

I have to agree it's pretty stark. Maybe switch to grays instead of white? I dunno.

Hmmm. This is interesting - great sketch. But the color scheme is throwing it off for me. The color contrast is just garish to my eye.

Re: pink Elephants

Since you can't see pink elephants with apple juice, I'm thinking it might not fly for that, and because of being OT. It's too bad though, because this is cute! I know you said you didn't spend as much time on it as you'd like. Well, finish it up and re-sub as a daily, or elsewhere! This is print-worthy.

This is so pretty - love the colors - that I hate to criticise. But I don't know that it would be apparent to anyone seeing this shirt that the character was a Yeti.

Re: Moonlight Solitude

This is pretty damned nice. The hard frame around it detracts, though. it would do a lot better with the scene fading into the shirt, somehow.
So, where do bigfoots (feet?) keep their beer?

Agreed. Fun cartoon, but not a shirt. And, it's not on a shirt template, so the rejectionator is likely going to visit.

Re: OWLMAN

otterific, dunno if you're into mexican folklore, but there's something called a "lechusa" which is a friggin huge white owl signifying death. If I saw this owl, i'd prolly make run for it!

Re: Indigestion

No offense to the artist - this is well-rendered. But it's pretty generic, both in style and topic. No doubt this will survive the rejectionator and print, because the artists intends a giant squid.
Maybe I'm just cranky because this is typical of the kind of pop-art stuff I grew up with as a kid, and didn't care for even then.

I do believe that there is no required template use, and that the only true requirement is that it show the image's placement on the shirt. I figured that charmingly horrible sketch of a shirt at the bottom would be good enough, but I'll obviously change it if need be. Thank you both for the comments! Sorry I couldn't please your pallets. Ah well, maybe next time.

It's hardly a patented idea. It's been done and done. But fortunately, both of these renderings are really well-executed. And - all props to Wences - stardamsel's really has that great dichotomy between realistically scary, and cute.

Yeah I stuggled with framing or fading and decided on framing. As to where he keeps his beer, in the coolers of campers he steals them from. He dang drank all our beer!

Think of it as a conversation starter:

"Wow! I really love your shirt. What is that adorable creature on it?"

"It's a yeti!"

"Cool! I love yetis and I love your shirt."

Glad you like the colors. I was pretty pleased with the way it turned out. :D

The Submission Page includes design guidelines on the left-hand side, including links to the official shirt template. (Links are not reproduced here because you can get them on the submission page.)

Design Guidelines:

* Maximum 16" x 20" design dimensions
* Use our official shirt templates as a guide:
o PDF (0.2 MB)
o Adobe Illustrator (0.2 MB)
o Adobe Illustrator (with heather gray textures, zipped) (8.7 MB)
o Adobe Photoshop (27.0 MB), zipped (1.6 MB)
o Heather gray texture (PNG, 2.2 MB)

Shirts have certainly been rejected for not using the official template in the past. That's at Woot's discretion. Mind you, I'm not sure the shirt is worth a resubmission for this derby because I'm not sure Tinkerbell qualifies as a cryptid. If it does get rejected as off-topic, it may fit better in a later derby. You never know.
