Re: Envy

Wow... great job in coloring! I wasn't imagining this in the color scheme you picked and this is so much better!

I find the faces/characters remind me of Ni Hao Kai-Lan, and that is a good thing!

Bravo!

I love Mary Blair! I actually did a research paper on her in school and scored an email interview with Pixar director Pete Docter, who's also a big Mary Blair fan.

This is so charming and wonderful in every way, TGentry! I still feel like this on rainy days. I want to just watch cartoons and daydream. Great work!

i love the rain and lighting bolts, but i wish the clouds matched the texture of the rain somehow, it looks too much like a sharpey marker and to me it doesn't go well with the rest.

[quote postid="4125114" user="avhienda01"]mrlos221 - Thank you! I love purple on dark colors too. 'Cept this is Navy, not Black

divineana - haha, I hadn't thought of it as a phoenix actually. When I started this design, this isn't what I had in mind. I began drawing the water as if something was plunging in, but the more I drew, the more it looked like wings, so I turned it into a bird. I know phoenixes are a pretty tired subject around here, so hopefully that won't hurt me too much.

pyro12489 - Thanks ![/quot

well in that case it looks terrible!!!! kidding. kidding.
pardon me, pardon me. it still looks incredible! and at the top of the fog it is.

I almost feel like this would work better without the sun and clouds on the blue sky. It feels really busy. The character and wallpaper effect are really nice though.

I'm confused by what you mean, is it that they won't like my thumbnail because the posters aren't in it?

In a way it reminds me of Beatrix Potter drawings for Peter Rabbit. It's got that old school vibe.

Thanks Travis, I'm working on a more subtle version. I've been staring at it too long to notice what you pointed out.

I think this is a lovely image, and to me the female figure almost looks sort of like a chrome statue. Her hair, face, and legs are stylized in a way that suggests this isn't a real nude person so much as a representation of a female human figure.

Did you ever end up printing that t-shirt somewhere? If so, then please link That was an incredibly beautiful piece.

EDIT* ...Oh shucks. I just noticed it looks like it printed here.... Guess I am SOL. Sadly, I wasn't involved at all in that Devo derby. Wish I was. Looked like a lot of fun.

The Deva image actually didn't print here. That derby was run differently, so even though it was 3rd place in votes, it was not chosen to print. I may try and do something with it later, but it doesn't fit the tee venues very well. Needs more bunnies, hahahahahah! Glad you liked her, I really enjoyed making that design. ^^

That's the thing with the woot derby I'm finding out. Is that it's usually the ultra cutesy cartoony ones that win. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate cute and especially humorous...it's just the ultra sickeningly cutesy ones that win that bum me out because they're not something I would buy or wear.
I'm a 36 year old male...I'm not going to wear a fluffy bunny with eyes the size of matzo balls.

Thank you! I tried to do a black-and-white v. color thing like in the movie. I know it's not factually accurate as Oz is always full of glorious Technicolor, but it was a fun experiment. I'm still learning those pantones

I dunno, I kind of like the clouds and the sun, but agree they could be more subtle.
So maybe don't take them out entirely, but just soften them a bit...?

Version 2. Now with 100% less sun and 45% less cloud.
