The robot is adorable! I am just not sure if woot can print the rain the way you have drawn it - gradients and half tones are still a problem

Re: I am the storm

When I first saw this shirt from just the thumbnail, I thought it was just going to be a pretty butterfly made out of rain. When I decided to click the thumbnail I thought; "Wow, its not only really pretty, it is clever and really cute!"

Nope. I was just having fun with it. I thought it would just be cute to have more going on with the cloud.

And thank you! ^__^

OK some of these comments are just wrong.

This kid put that in the title himself so that he wouldn't be judged by the woot community on the same level as an adult. Which he shouldn't! He's six! It's not going to win, he's just a kid and gave this his best shot. He put something personal on the internet for strangers to judge, and just wanted people to take into account that it wasn't an art grad student because, let's face it, if you judge a 6 year old's art the same way you would judge the art of a graphic designer there's something wrong. He's brave just to put something up there and some people on this site wanna be [insert word woot would just filter here] about it. He should be encouraged, not discouraged.

I refuse to answer on the grounds that I don't know the answer.

It's ok. Maybe some people feel threatened.

And really, it's not everyone else's job to encourage my kids. It's super nice and admirable if they do, but I think he was just looking for affirmation from mom and dad. And he got it.

As far as the thumbnail, I admit it is kind of weak, but the cat really is the most interesting part of the design that will draw people in.

I keep reading people saying things about artists putting designs that didn't print on other sites.

Does this ever happen?

If it does, and you do, please let me know. This is one of my favorite designs...and one I could easily wear. I only wish it would get the votes it deserves.

Art doesn't have to literally reflect reality.

It gives it a childish and cute vibe, like it's a crafty backdrop for a play or something.

The white box in the background is something that I find unappealing. It seems you did it to make the rain, but I think you should of just given the rain its own color. Plus, a lot of people here dislike the block of ink, regardless of the cool image that exists in it.

I think some shadows and highlights always make a image stand out more too. It seems you have the palette to do it with.

And lastly, the rain breaking your line work is something that distracts me. I would probably have a few drops go over the line work, but I would have most of the rain drops behind the image to break up the "flatness" of the rain and give the image some depth.

And I mentioned this before, this piece is just too darn funny. I love it! Keep it up!

Thank you. After looking through the other entries, I agree this one is too complicated, but I mostly just wanted to get this done in time and get a hang of the techniques.

Re: Splish Splash. made by a kid

This design has a nice balance to the composition. I like that one person has vertical stripes on their shirt, the other horizontal. I also like the contrasting color of the umbrellas.

The splash marks next to their feet convey a nice sense of movement, too. I think puddles on the ground/under their feet would strengthen that feel. Very playful and fun. My son would wear this. GMV.
