{{mod note: deleted reply-post snipped}}

Don't be fooled, Ramy and his partner /have/ stolen designs and plagiarized work in the past. Look up "World Nomination" among others. It's not as if they guys are just completely blowing hot air, there is a lot of drama swirled around this kid, enough for an ED page also IIRC.

It's also not that I don't cheer your enthusiasm, but some of these guys believe that if you are not for them, you are against them, no matter how you feel about the situation. There is no gray area in here, only black and white. They see all of us shirt.woot users, especially those who have bought his shirts in the past, as part of Ramy's fanbase, and that is what I have a problem with more than what he has done. They exist to polarize the user and artist base by scaring away users who just simply buy shirts, and artists looking to make successful designs. It's like assuming all Tea Party supporters are conservatives or extremist right-wingers, many folks are just people whose values don't fall to either side, or believe in making decisions for themselves without someone else telling them what they should.

Your style rocks, and fits this derby so well. I just wish the edges of the design weren't so abrupt.
And, for myself, I'd love to see just the Venus figure, without all the distraction.

And it was a tough job!
I'm assuming that is the Woot red shirt background? Aren't those Pantones just a tater? This looks so pink to me. Still, I love it.

Wow. Looking closely at the image, I'd have LOVED to see this on black, with the black negated out for the shirt color, and the blue as an ink color.
That stippling on the moon is just off the hook.
One super caveat, tho - it looks like the whole design is cut off at the bottom - moon, black, etc. Regardless of my own preferences, that one thing is a boo-boo. Still, I'm reasonable certain few folks would notice it on a shirt.

I'm really disappointed- I really loved this shirt.I wonder if "I don't think we can do it" means they don't have the ability with their machines. The sad part is none of the other shirts are very interesting. I did expect it though when I saw the back to the future shirt (which is basically the same thing) also get rejected.

A real shame that it got knocked out of the Fog. It deserves to be there.

in what way would you have the blue be? just the markings blue and the darker silohuetted color black trading the dark blue now used for all black? asking for clarification.

Re: Sabertooth

I hate to put my say in things but here we go.
I like the design.....BUT!.....I didn't vote for it. I do think it is a ripoff of C+H and it was recognizable from when I saw it.

the 2 reasons I think this is getting votes is because

1. It's Recognizable

2. This Debate

Everybody likes to see things that remind them of something they loved, and Ramy did a good job at that. But doing too much crosses the invisible line of rejection. I see this easily being rejected. Period.

This Debate has cause this design, IMO, to ride through the ranks so fast and making you haters even angrier. Now before you think I'm on ramy's side, think again. I agree with Adder a whole lot in this discussion, and I admire his persistence.

But people are dumb. They will buy what they like without having a care in the world who did it or if its a copyrighted illustration. Do illigal downloads exist? Yes. Do people still make pirated movies? Yes. No matter where you go somebody's gonna rip you off. Now do I think this should stop? Hell Yes.

Adder, i agree this is a rejection.

Ramy you could do better.

Everybody else please stop fighting amongst yourselves. Took me over an hour to read all these threads (all pretty much saying the same thing over and over again) and now I have a headache.

Re: Finger Painting

It's a fine line. Edgar had a figure pulling out his own eyes, and another lopping off limbs. In one, the colors were 'out there'. In the other,, it was more realistic in color, but...
Anyhoo - I would love to see this design again, here or elsewhere. But, with someone else's fingers, heh?

I think this one was really funny and well done, and one of the few I voted for in this generally uninteresting topic. Sorry to see it rejected, especially with that PG-13 malarkey.

@midgerock - Thanks tons! And yay sharing! I worry about the current generation, mostly because they seem so clueless. Hel-LO. Go run or something. Geez! And I like your juxtaposed idea. Probably would have been more compelling!
@ruffleshaveridges - thanks to you, too! And yeah - mouse. Urrgggh! I do have a tablet, too, but I'm also struggling to get the same kind of control I have with a physical pen or pencil. I find lines lagging (I'm sure it's more of a memory/graphics card issue than with the tablet or pen), and suddenly there it is - not where I wanted.

Ooooooo! That would ROCK. I know a few artists who would just kill with a theme like that - Drakxxx being A-number-one. And while this desing would fit it, apparently the potential definitely there.
Not gonna happen, but it's nice to dream (or have nightmares).

goldenthorn wrote:He wrote a pun. Not an insult.
Let's break it down:
A pun is, in the simplest definition, a play on words (more specifically, this). Look at the image. There's a soup can on there. Mr. Walmazan wrote "super" in reference to the image. "Super," spelled funny or going portmanteau-ish, was made "souper" by Mr/s. Parrotworks. Like soup that is... super. So, "souper" refers both to the word "super" and the soup can in the image. Mr/s. Parrotworks thus made a pun in appreciation for Mr. Walmazan's compliment.

A shame you had to explain that. No one seriously rags on Wences - NO ONE. Mostly because he's do damned nice, it wouldn't occur to anyone!

Re: Sabertooth

This reminds me of that other time Sekiyoku had a shirt rejected and then she made the black cat into a tiger and resubmitted the same shirt and somehow it stayed.

I know it seems I haven't been a member for very long, but I've actually been lurking forever until I found a shirt to purchase. And I actually haven't purchased many shirts since I first purchased a shirt because Ramyb's stuff always somehow end up fogging. And I refuse to ever own a RamyB shirt, I'm even scared of random shirt days because that's how much I don't even want one.

I agree with Adder and Kyle and all the anti-RamyB posts. Sure, some things can be said with more tact, but I admire that they're still trying to stand up against a plagiarist and someone who just tries to capitalize and make profits off the masses with all disregard for other artists and intellectual property.

If you think about it, this art wouldn't seem so unusual if it appeared in one of Watterson's books right. It seems like something Watterson himself could have come up with. Because of that, I have to disagree with those saying that this is a parody. I thought it was Calvin and Hobbes right away, and I never read the comics. It saddens me week after week that people don't seem to care and his designs always end up on top. As long as RamyB has continued support and Woot doesn't do anything about his submissions, he's not going to stop or try to improve on his designs. This is why I've taken to purchasing shirts elsewhere, originality can't really be found on Woot these days.

I think this has few votes and no comments because (speaking for myself at least) it's a little hard to figure out the idea. Maybe if we could see a bit more detail, in a bigger composition (on something like photobucket)?
