I am also frustrated. Even though this is my first derby, it is very obvious (from watching entries in the past) that some of the most original and intriguing entries get passed up for the played out and simple :/

Don't feel that way Midge, people love your artwork and you are a bold new presence here.The subject is too close to your heart for you to see that it is a subject most people would rather avoid thinking about, but you can be sure that the artwork is appreciated by everyone here.
There are a few hundred designs here, and alot of people vote strictly for what they would buy, (Think about your winged gargoyle guy, everyone loved...)
The history behind the artwork makes it palatable to the masses, the people who don't know the history which you shared in the thread here, can't feel the emotional attachment, just a fear that it could happen to them.(I love this heartfelt tribute to your father.It is a great piece of art )

Although the claim that comets create life is really just a hypothesis, many scientists believe that this is one of the few ways (chunks of Mars hitting the Earth is another) that life might have germinated here on our tiny rock out in the middle of nowhere. The tee is on asphalt, right? The background looks like it but the color of the actual shirt in the template is more purple-ish.

THe artist is right, woot. That was a pretty awful rejection, especially considering how many "c adjective" entries are slipping through
