chumpmagic wrote:That is a lack of understanding which is normal. One of the biggest problem with these weird anxieties and phobias, is there is not too many people one can talk to about the issue since most don't understand it and unwittingly lack comforting. If you suffered from the phobia mention above, or knew someone who suffered from this, it would be on topic.

When I saw the topic this week, I immediately knew that someone was going to do a shirt with this. I actually have the phobia listed in your post so it's hard for me to really look at this shirt. When I do tell people about my phobia, they just say "Get over it" or "It'll pass". Well...that's like telling someone who's afraid of heights to just deal with it or someone who's a junkie to "get over it" (I know I'm stretching a bit on that last one but oh well...). Unless you have a phobia, you really don't understand how much it affects daily life. In my case, I'm constantly looking at people around me to make sure they are okay and if someone does a lot of coughing, I have to get away from them just in case. It also affects me because I would like to have kids someday but dread pregnancy and if one of my children getting sick.

Sorry to hijack the tread with my rant!

Thank you all for the comments and the <3. Stitching would be very cool. I think it would be good to bring the fallout rain all the way down at that point though, don't y'all?

Actually, due to the mutliverse concept employed by both DC and Marvel, not to mention JLA/AVengers, they do.

If you really wanted to go the parody route, Lois Lane instead of Kryptonite, perhaps.

Re: Gym-no-phobia

Gym-no-phobia: The fear of having to climb that stu-pid rope in gym class that isn't a real gymnastics event anyway. I mean, what sadist decided that it was a measure of physical fitness to have to climb a rope that had no footholds, that scraped your hands and your inner thighs raw --- not to mention what it did to your belly button when your shirt snagged on the fibers. And did they have to use the cheapest, coarsest, roughest rope in the known universe?
*ahem* Not that I have issues or anything.

Don't mind me, just adding to the heaping pile o' praise here. The coloring is superb* and the illustration --- right down to the crack in the porridge bowl, the detail on the spider and the tuffet! Very nicely done.
(So that's what a tuffet is...)

Oh good, I wasn't the only one surprised to learn that a tuffet is a real thing!

I want a tuffet that looks like a spider. That would be so cool!

Thanks so much again, everyone . Glad you are enjoying Mr. Spiderton and his creepyness ^_^.

Uhm.. is the use of Wile E. Coyote not a copyright violation??

It would appear that even toilets have phobias. Chief among such phobias is the illustrious Lava Pocket. These easily prepared meals bring ecstasy to the eater's mouth, but they also bring catastrophe to the eater's stomach. This inevitably leads to the toilet being in the line of fire. It's bad enough being a toilet, but Lava Pockets make it unbearable.

There's another entry that looks suspiciously like Wile E. Coyote in this derby as well...

Can we say "copyright violation"?

Re: Fear of the Dark

I wouldn't have known this was a ramyb shirt if I hadn't read the comments. It is much better than what I have come to expect from this artist, and it does look pretty cool on my screen, though I'm not sure how I feel about the heavy contrast of the girl and reds and the rest of the picture. And yeah, she looks extremely confident and calm/cool, but that's okay because a phobia is still depicted, it just doesn't affect the girl in the picture.

I stab your colors here, lucky! I think it's the way the hot fire plays against the navy shirt. Aw3ome parody and character work too.

Finally, someone who understands what I go through. It is not something you can snap out of. And it's definitely not "just getting sick" when someone else gets sick. It's hard to explain to people. My family understands, and eventually my friends do, too. It's embarrassing, but for the most part, an easy phobia to live with. Incidentally, I never married or had children, not because of the phobia, but it would have been something to consider if I had ever been in that position.

My latest issue with it was in the recovery room after knee surgery. I wanted to be moved to my room, but the nurse said I had to wait till my blood pressure went down. I promised them if they got me out of that room full sick people (coughing, gagging, etc.) that my blood pressure would be fine. They finally listened, and sure enough my blood pressure lowered quickly as I was able to relax.

Ok, handing the thread back to the shirt now. Just wanted to share my 2 cents on why I think it is on topic. I'll buy it if it prints because my family will get a kick out of it.

Move over Bozo and Pennywise. There's something else scaring children these days. Gnomes are the new clowns!

"But their beards are pretty rad", you say. Well, that may be, but there's something about those beady eyes and pointy hats that haunt my dreams. Too often do I wake up from a Gnomish nightmare where tinkered weapons are firing those little buggers right at me!

Maybe if I can trap them on a tee they will have to leave me and the children alone? Help us out wooters!
