Wow, I totally didn't notice that that was a leaf on the guy's head until I looked at the closeups. Thought it was just his blonde hair.

I like it. At first I didn't think I was going to vote for it because I don't usually go for the simpler cute designs, but I really like how it looks on the shirt (from further away.) Nice job!

Re: Autumn Repose

I can't remember the last time a shirt outside the fog had so many votes. It's a tough week and this has done amazingly well for your first entry, balatamayo.

You should feel really good about it even if it doesn't make it into the top 9. ^_^

I've got "Adorable Disaster" too. Got it years ago from Threadless.

Yeah, I read that later and did a headdesk. Thanks! And yay, this means if it wins I can wear it! Please win, shirt. *crosses fingers*

Re: Autumn Aviary

I haven't seen anything from you lately, but I'm glad to see you're still around! This is fabulous, and if it wins, I'll have my first yellow shirt. The blue colour is a great choice for the tree, which reminds me immediately of a birch, down to the shapes of the birds which resemble birch leaves. It's one of my favourite trees. The swirls are very you, and I like 'em but still love the design without them, so I think either way, you've got a very wearable, unisex shirt. Good luck!

I hope to see more of your art from now on - I'm sure I'm not the only one who has missed your lovely and original submissions.

Spiritgreen wrote:Radiomode is very good at these kinds of designs. I don't think generic is the right word... they may not have a concept or a message, they're purely wearable, but that can't be easy to do. It's just a different kind of skill than most Woot artists use.

Exohdus wrote:Well put, my biggest problem with the woot derby is these uppity artsy elitists. The button says I'd want one, and if this was on a tee shirt I would buy and wear the shirt. Simple as that.

Agree with both of you. As long as the artist isn't breaking any rules like using work that is copyrighted by someone else, if I like a design and it's something that I'd wear, I'm going to vote for it. Every single shirt doesn't have to be a high-class piece of art. After all, it's not going to be hanging in a gallery; it's going to be on your torso.

chunkydesign wrote:@celia1 - Thanks for such an enthusiastic support on my submission. Unfortunately for you (and for me), this is not the type of design that the majority of woot buyers and voters is looking for. So, the chances of something like this being printed here, are pretty slim, unless it was done by one of the most popular artists here, and even so, I doubt it would happen.

Thanks also to everyone who commented and voted for this entry so far. It´s always rewarding to see your work apreciated.

This looks like something Threadless would print. You might want to try over there after the required waiting time.

I'm bummed this shirt fell out of the fog - it's a lovely patterned look and completely on theme. And it's an owl, and who doesn't love owls?

This shirt is just so unique - nothing else in the derby comes close to the style of the design. Well done, and I hope you submit more designs in the future!

If this hadn't been rejected, it would be my clear favorite. Starry Night is one of my favorite paintings and has somewhat of a special meaning for me. Please let me know if something more comes ever of this design as I'd love to have it on a t-shirt.

It's funny that you say it has to have a tree to stay in the fog, as a tree features prominently in Starry Night...it's that thing in the front.

Well it's exactly what I said it is. It's a derby composed of honorable mentions from the preceding derbies...I'm not sure of the exact number because I've actually only been around for one and I didn't even get what it was at the time. I think I read somewhere that it takes place every quarter, so 4 times a year.

Looking at this page, it looks like it takes place around every 11 to 13 derbies. That would make sense as 13 * 4 = 52 so 52 weeks or 1 year.

I don´t think you can do that... As far as I know, the entries in the double take must be the same that entered the original derby. But, to be part of the double take derby, you first need to win an Honorable Mention, and that's a decision only made by Woot.

Thanks for overcoming your dislike of yellow Nsomniotic! It seems like that's an issue for a lot of people here. Perhaps the only thing standing between me and a print this time was a different t-shirt color eh?

Thanks for the support Paigeg! Guess this monster only eats kids though...and not adorable foxes, absolutely beautiful tree ladies or hilariously well-illustrated grenade eating squirrels. There were a lot of great entries this week and I don't feel too bad at all about finishing behind some of them;) Although...a print still would have been exciting, haha

I really like the idea and style but want a little more from the composition. Just something a bit more interesting, and I agree with someone else that it seems cut off more than hiding in leaves. Like maybe if it was more active by pouncing or something. Still gets a vote from me :D
