What's wrong with the image? The thumbnail pic doesn't show and it says it has zero votes?

Anyways its a good picture, I hope it does well.

It is nice, but it's going to look really big on the t-shirt the way you have it.

Trust me, you want to make it a lot smaller in the middle for the finished product to look good.

Making a title with the numbers in it kinda forced their hand on the rejection, otherwise they may have looked the other way.

fairnymph wrote:This would be so awesome on blue...and more fitting, I think. I don't see how Olive works? And I'm sad I couldn't wear/buy this shirt if it won, due to the colour.

Beautiful art, though, and I'll vote and buy if you put it on any shade of blue, either of the other two greens, cranberry, or asphalt....hell, even heather grey though that's not a popular colour so not so likely to win.

I actually really like it on the green, but I'd be OK with other colors.

If this doesn't win, please post if it gets printed somewhere else, I'd even buy a cafepress shirt with this on it.

I also had trouble telling that both the gingerbread men were supposed to be... well... men. Here's my initial reaction:

"Whoah, looks like Mrs. Gingerbread walked in on an affair... waitaminnit... they're both wearing 'lingerie'... which one is male? Are all three female? Is one cross-dressing? Are two of them cross-dressing?... Whaaa, I'm confused..."

The only suggestion I can think of is to give the two gingerbread men mustaches. I know it's not a common gingerbread decoration, but it's the only truly obvious male feature that comes to mind, short of drawing *ahem* inappropriate body parts.....

Re: Christmas Dangers

I sense a very good subtle joke.

Too bad I haven't seen A Christmas Story or I might be laughing along with the others right now.

Having worn subtle shirts before, however, I can say that oftentimes it just isn't worth it. Yes, occasionally someone will "get" it and laugh out loud, but most of the time I just end up answering a bunch of questions from people who don't.

Personally, I prefer subtle shirts that don't leave the uninformed feeling like they've missed something. That makes the hidden humor even sneakier.

Re: Freedom from Want (of Brains)

An excellent Norman Rockwell parody.

I understand that zombies are overdone, but I think we'd do better to criticize the bad zombie jokes first, and I don't think this is one of them.

Re: Mom, I miss you

With the colors and the detail and the lack of text, this really comes out looking beautiful on the shirt sample.

The only question I have is: what kind of mood would you have to be in to wear this shirt? And how could you possibly break out of those winter doldrums when you have it plastered across your torso?...

I guess this goes on my long list of submissions that look GREAT but aren't quite as good as shirt ideas.

Re: The Hungry Igloo

I appreciate your thoughts fairynymph!

I found this kinda surprising myself, but the Inuits are predominantly Christian these days. I did some research on their traditions and beliefs before drawing this because I really do like to slip as many observations into my designs as I can. Inuit mythology mostly revolved around animist deities, spirits of the weather and sea or polar bears, but they've been mainly replaced by the march of Christianity.

So a festive tree seemed appropriate rather than the carving of a totem or something like that. I made sure my igloos were built in the traditional spiral fashion too. ^__^

fairnymph wrote:Wow, you're very talented. I can't say this is beautiful (I happen to hate zombies and all things related, just a personal thing), but it is clearly well-drawn.

I'm curious - what species of brain are they eating, since it's much too large to be a human's, and only one species has a larger brain than humans is the dolphin, which has a differently shaped brain. Do the zombies branch out for holidays?

These zombies seem unusually civilized too (plates!), as well as educated - someone's a chemist in the family, at least. I think the civilized bit is a lovely irony, but the chemistry thing escapes me conceptually.

ETA: As another posted noted, I am also sick of zombies - literally as well as figuratively - and don't agree that 'because other things print a lot, we should print more of this other thing'. And I dislike the cutesy stuff as much as I dislike zombies - or close enough. I understand and share the frustration, but it's not a good argument logically.

Thanks fairnymph! The comment is much appreciated!

When I sketched this idea I debated a stack of normal-sized brains but the idea of one huge brain made me laugh. I figured trying to explain where it came from was much too much thinking on my part.

The chemistry stuff was tossed in as a nod to the Resident Evil/28 Days Later zombie worlds. Once again, I didn't give it much thought, just thought it was funny.

On other stuff, I admit I'm close to being zombied out as well, but obviously much less so than the general opinion on here. That and the fact the idea probably isn't as inspired as it could be are likely the reason this isn't getting more votes—not that it's not cute ( I would argue that even done cutsie this idea probably would do the same). I don't mind cute, but it's not something I do naturally all that well, or willingly. If I have an idea that being cute works with I'll do it, but I personally tend to do a little more sober things.

I plan on trying this design out on other sites when it's done here and I'm optimistic that it'll get picked up somewhere. Thanks to everyone on the great feedback!

well, even if woot has clearly made a decision about the design saying they don't want it, if this true and they still have this 60 day window of sitting on it and not using it, then I say rework the design. making Rudolph more curious sniffing the ground near the box and add Hermey the dentist, Yukon Cornelius and the Abominable Snowman in it as well then resub it at teefury and other places. Do it.

Re: Home in Time

I'd suggest a different shirt color; the design is charming - I really like it; it's a lot more subtle than many of the others - but the yellow shirt clashes with the design. Maybe try something that fits more with the nature/holiday theme - a brown, maybe, or green?
