Good thing humans are complex beings and can have more than one favorite Christmas movie.

Yeah, I like 'em all.

truffleshuffle wrote:This is such a great, subtle movie reference! I got it immediately, but I wonder if I would have gotten it without the title. Its hard to say. Anyway, very clean and simple execution, and since I live in Cleveland I love it even more

PS. My favorite quote is "Randy lay there like a slug. It was his only defense" heh heh

Cleveland Rocks! Yeah, there is more great quotes in this movie than almost any other.

mr96crabs wrote:zzz i dont like it

That's fine. You're still going to vote for it right?

kevlar51 wrote:hey thatrobert ... I think people are getting the reference even without the text ;)

glad to see this still up here.

Yes, I'm kind of surprised!

Yeah, the Wham! reference was a last-minute title inspiration and has kind of backfired since I get that song stuck in my head every time I come check for comments!

Re: Warm and Cozy

As always, people have a lot to say about this artist's designs. I glanced at it earlier in the derby, noted that my initial thought was he was an Eeyore character of Christmas... trying to be happy and bright, but still bein' a one turtle gloom squad.

I would have enjoyed the design more, perhaps, if it were taken that way, because the support of that concept is what I see in the drawing. The slight smile is too slight. The posture suggests stiffness and isolation instead of cuddling against oneself.

I understand the intent of the drawing after reading through the comments. However, it should be considered that there are better poses/ways to demonstrate such an idea.

Not saying this is the most outrageously horrible thing I ever have seen. Not at all. It still carries a lot of wonderful design attributes that the artist is known for. I simply think this is significantly weaker than recent entries and not a particularly strong design, for my tastes, in this derby.

Perhaps there were some people who voted because they wanted the Eeyore type of Christmas character. The success of ambiguous designs is that it could be read a number of ways by a large number of observers. :P

Rally-ho!

Re: Winter Fun

Excellent illustration! It gives me cavities, so it's not exactly a shirt I would wear myself, but the sheer quality of character design is delightful. You have a great sense of how to draw expression and it's refreshing to see. :D

This is a very sweet concept, and I love the way you drew her. However, it really bothers me that her eyebrows are on the outside of her hair. I know it's late to comment now, but maybe for future work... Overall, nice job.

Thanks. yeah I don't have anything to link to yet. I'm working on it though. right clicking is the only way to see the details for now. I'm new to all this. resubmitting would be nice, next time i wont send it in a half hour before the deadline.

In "A Muppet Christmas Carol" they have twin girl piggies and two frog sons, including, of course, Tiny Tim.

I wish you'd gotten the green in the right spot in your color palette. But it has no bearing on the design. Just my OCD. Got a vote from me!

It really is a work of art. It always boggles my mind when something awesome like this doesn't place higher. Maybe it was the color choices that shy voters away. I admit I typically abhor the olive green shirts.

Maybe if the turtle was more KAWAII ^_^ ^_^ ^_^ (ugh) it would place higher. Sigh.

I am not a fan of the blank eyes either. I don't find them scary... just unnecessarily bland in an otherwise interesting design. It also seems weird to me that all of them have a larger right eye than left eye... genetic trait?
