I like that linked design a lot. I wouldn't have a bad thing to say about this artist if he brought work like this to the table more often (yes, that includes his "cute" stuff too). His designs since his return, aside from "small foot complex" and "fear of the dark," have looked somewhat inadequate.

This design seems like he is relying more on his credibility with the voters than the artwork itself. The lack of joints on the dog, is not only implausible, it also lacks constancy with the other robot. The staging looks incomplete; I would just remove the halftone in the background, leaving just the characters and the shadows, if you aren't going to incorporate a ground plain, other "props" and whatnot. The robot being a 3 quarter view and the dog being a side view looks awkward as well as the fact that the dog isn't on the same ground plain as the robot (the robot is a tad more in the foreground).

The robot, colors, and highlights/ shading are great.

I enjoy some of his work. I think he is better than this, and he has proven it in the past (especially when viewing that other entry, "lets Play"). He is capable of good things, and I know he could have made this design 10 times better. Granted, I know artist can't bring our A-game every time, but this seems somewhat of a slapdash design.

Re: Lazer Tagged

Wow, thanks a lot for all the votes everyone.
This is the highest ranking I've had so far at 21st place. (Although there are several recent entries that are moving up pretty quick).
But I'll enjoy it while I can!

Now if only my I <3 Robots will get some love too. He obviously loves you!

Re: Locked and Loaded

I love the design and coloring. I don't know about other people but I don't really care for the choice of shirt color. The image itself is wonderful, but I think it looks a bit weird on asphalt. +1 anyways though because as I said, the image is wonderful. :D

Re: Robo Squirrel V2

I updated my original design to give it a fatter tail to make it look more squirrel-like.

Am I undermining myself by having multiple versions up for voting?

Thanks for your feedback. I was having similar thoughts, so I decided to make the tail fatter. Please check it out: http://shirt.woot.com/Derby/Entry.aspx?id=47216

Re: Dance Party

Thanks for the kind comments. If anyone else is interested in this, please let me know and I can update you if I ever end up getting it printed.

If this was rejected because it's based on a (generic) toy robot, I wonder why the other design that is based on the exact same robot was not rejected.

Yep, I'd buy one, but honestly there isn't anything submitted by drakxxx and whoever he collaborates with that I wouldn't buy

The image of the robot might be better served as a less sketchy look and more definitive. It's a great idea. aj

WOW this is probably my favorite shirt for this Derby and it only has 6 votes come on people this is way better than 95 percent of this stuff. vote this shirt up!

Re: 18XX ROGUE GEARS

You two consistently produce some absolutely phenomenal artwork. Your designs are always breath-taking.

That being said, the consistent fault in your submissions is that they are over-designed. These are just T-shirts. The details are beautiful, but I don't want to wear something that busy on my chest. This is the error I see a lot of submissions falling into, and it makes the difference between a derby winner and a derby winner that survives the reckoning.

On a positive note: While I really don't think designing t-shirts is your forte, if you guys drew graphic novels, I would buy every single one.

Valid point. I love the artwork that you two produce but I don't always vote for every one because I don't always feel like I would wear it on a shirt. However, I would wear a LOT of them I'm still mourning the loss of the tree sub in the Fall derby. My absolute favorite of yours! This is also a good sub, and I would wear this one. But I still think the above statement is a valid point, and I think you guys should look into doing something like a graphic novel (HINT HINT, WINK WINK!) That would be awesome

As someone who's planning for this in a couple months, what size do you think I should get, that can accommodate the very likely chance of twins when I'm at full term? I wear a size WS currently, and probably won't gain much weight beyond what'll be in my uterus. WL, maybe?

Now this shirt HAS to win!

It's painful that in this derby, something like "Go Fetch" would supplant this. As in, people, lots of them, might look at both designs and say that this one is inferior. Especially with this theme.
