I like how fluid the hair is, and I'm sure you noticed it, too, how natural it feels. What I'd like to see is her *body* to have that same fluidity. I know she's a robot, but look at our bodies, there's not a single straight bone, vein, muscle, or organ I can think of! Art needs movement, and even with mechanical drawings, fluidity is needed so our eyes can flow through a work. Great job!

Yes, Navy.

scionofjubal wrote:You two consistently produce some absolutely phenomenal artwork. Your designs are always breath-taking.

That being said, the consistent fault in your submissions is that they are over-designed. These are just T-shirts. The details are beautiful, but I don't want to wear something that busy on my chest. This is the error I see a lot of submissions falling into, and it makes the difference between a derby winner and a derby winner that survives the reckoning.

On a positive note: While I really don't think designing t-shirts is your forte, if you guys drew graphic novels, I would buy every single one.

Thank you and believe me, I know exactly what you mean. It is quite clear that if we want to win consistently, we would definitely need to modify our tactics. Just speaking for myself here but my stubbornness to continue to crank out details on already complex lines is comparative to my stubbornness to continue to be an honest and generally "swell" guy despite knowledge that being a backstabbing liar would probably land more results in life.

I am what I am and do what I do. And as generic as that sounds... well, it is. And that's not really what I'm interested in making. Generic. I make art first and shirts second. We're a symphony playing for the deaf but we can still hear it and want it to kick ass regardless of who appreciates it. Thankfully, many of you can hear.

I agree that this honestly isn't really our place, but I think that's why people notice this stuff. I like the challenge of having to crank these out in a day with only 6 colors. These derbies are a challenge. Something I do in my spare time. They're practice for what I care about more than a print which is to improve as an artist and gain a few fans along the way. And those 4th and 5th place finishes have a nice sting to them that I quite enjoy.

Tshirts aren't really the best medium, I agree. If anyone is interested in linking us to the graphic novel contest or anything more suiting, feel free to do so.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions, guys, unfortunately I'm not good at graphic, so I had to keep it as simple as possible.

I didn't want any writing and the heart is meant to be of that size because it is approximately the real heart size.

I always felt the same. Drakxxx mostly draws a scene, with background elements. Clouds, birds, fence etc.,

If you see the winning designs there is usually a main character or two. I'm not saying what's wrong and right, just my observation.

I like his less busy designs too. Last woot shirt i bought was his "Monster Hunter".

You guys are ridiculously good at this and I have huge respect that you don't compromise what you feel is your best art for what the voters want. As someone who usually prefers simple designs on my chest, I would buy this one and wear the heck out of it. Keep doing what you do. I'm still learning what my style is and appreciate that yours is highly recognizable and strongly in place. You two are great role models for growing artists.
