I see the varied thicknesses of lines but not the hatching though.

Those lines you're seeing is hatching... not cross hatching, but just hatching. The derby rules don't require cross hatching. Hatching is lines running parallel creating depth, volume, etc. Cross hatching is when you cross those parallel lines to create more tone.

From Wikipedia:

Hatching (hachure in French) is an artistic technique used to create tonal or shading effects by drawing (or painting or scribing) closely spaced parallel lines.

sorry, they don't have this lovely shade of lavendar, so this will be rejected.

Did you even look at it? It's a black shirt with a lavendar design.

Art 101 I prefer hatching over cross hatching. Cross hatching always seems to look sloppy to me, no matter how clean or evenly spaced the lines are. I am glad woot didn't limit this derby to cross hatching only because then I wouldn't have an urge to partake, missing out on all the fun.

You are just fine here, and you did a wonderful job! Hatching > Cross hatching

Re: Hamlet: Goth or Emo?

I like your final color choices too. Looks good.

I kind of wish you put the fingers around the skull in the back ground, as if it was from his point of view. That may be to complex though.

Also, what music does he listen to? From my understanding, Goth kids are Emo kids that listen to heavier music :P I kid.. I kid.. I love you all.

The shirt bone's connected to the skeleton bone.
The skeleton bone's connect to your head bone.
And that's about it.
Enjoy puttin on the ritz.

Re: sketchy brew

A crosshatch coffee cup. I originally planned on doing this in brown on a natural colored shirt, but it just didn't feel right, so I decided to invert my color scheme. This lead to much more cross hatching, but I think the results were worth it.

Comments and suggestions are appreciated.

Yeah, I'm getting sick of the east coast cold weather. It's only November and I'm freezing!!! Maybe I'll go buy an indoor palm tree and throw some lights on it.

I wanted to do a crossing over of classic Dungeons and Dragons characters as if they were role playing as different classes of geek. Normally it's the other way around. From left to right: Halfling Tech-Geek, Elf Cos-player, Mindflayer Dungeon Master, and Half-Orc Console Gamer.
