Re: In Repair

Oh good lord..how boring and predictable from you kdeuce. Everything you do is the same boring stuff. olive or white. always looks like a photo that has been manipulated. A tree or a grenade. BORING!

I like. I get. But I think the linework is too fat to render enough detail.

SeedUvPain wrote:I say go for it! Like I said above, it's something I used to sketch when i was bored in class. I know it's nothing new and I know it's not the greatest example of the form, but I had fun doing it and i'm happy to see it getting some love. I'd like to see your version as well. For some reason these hidden skulls are so fascinating to me

Never got there, and at this late hour, I doubt I will. Still, it really wasn't a 'hidden skull' but a moon with silhouetted lovers. I'll hang on to it for some other time... It wouldn't rock past this one anyway.

A bit lacking in depth and detail. And placed small on the shirt. Those are details you'll learn. Keep trying, because you obviously can draw.

Great designs and color choice. I've always wanted a shirt with an optical illusion. Hope it wins.

I know a lot of folks have commented on this already but I have to add to the chatter. It is an excellent cross-hatching work. There is something timeless about it.

I really hope this gets submitted for a weekly shirt, or even on another website. I would love to buy it.

Re: Kid Cthulu V2.0

maybe you could email them and ask what you need to correct. then you could submit it as a daily and see if it gets printed later? Its just a suggestion. I mean heck if it had enough interest I would think they might. or correct it and submit it to another place like threadless. sorry about the bad luck it is a nice piece

Re: Velociraptors love cupcakes!

Thanks for the support everyone. This was a great derby theme that challenged me to try something new and different and get out of my "comfort zone." Believe it or not, although the artwork seems quite detailed, this design actually took a lot less time because I didn't have to worry about color combos and fidget with layers of colors in Photoshop. I'm glad this change of style is being received well and appreciated.

I like the design, but I think this would be much better in color, and without the box in the background.

I agree. I was too concerned with keeping within the "line minimum" that I overcompensated and hurt the image.

skirochester wrote:very disappointed that I did not meet the requirements this week. Guess it was too tough to turn a pencil drawing like this into a 1-color piece that met the guidelines. Or I just don't know how to do it.

Thanks for all the support. Really got a lot of love on this design and hopefully it'll print somewhere (just not in 1 color).

I would be infinitely surprised if this couldn't garner a print for you pretty much anywhere. Though I agree... unless you mean "not just one color because pencil sketching leaves some degree of gradients", you should keep it like this. Keep it sketchy and pencilly and non-colored.

I have to say, though... I obviously can't see the print-ready so I have no clue what woot saw, but this is probably the most disappointing rejection I've seen here in a long time.

It's mostly stream of consciousness-type-doodling.
Similar to automatic writing. I sort of just let drawings develop into recognizable (or not) images. I suppose my thought process is similar to a dreaming mind.

Thanks yeah... Originally it was going to be a unicorn with a tattoo, but i got distracted.... (this is the kind of tattoo a unicorn would get)

Despite it being a white shirt I just can't resist it. If it prints I'll have to be in for half a dozen - I know too many people (including myself!) who will need to have it. The expressions are awesome! Good job

One day, when Walmazan publishes his illustrated cookbook, everyone who hasn't voted for this shirt will feel very foolish. As for me, I will go to a book signing with my Holy Guacamole shirt, and buy copies for all my friends and relatives who are into SALSA!!!

Re: Ill-gotten Trinkets

I really hope this one prints - it is unbelievably gorgeous! Gorgeous enough that I would put it up as a print on my wall, honestly. The tail is fantastic...the whole concept is. Absolutely fantastic. I'll be in for at least two. I wish it wasn't on cream, but I'm looking forward to how the purple prints.

The fact that this is still fogged both shocks and delights me. Designs this offbeat don't usually do this well in derbies. Fingers are seriously crossed for a print.
