I really like your use of short, strong hatches. You captured the owl's flight very well & the color is striking, too. Good job!

Scrotch wrote:I kind of like this, it reminds me of old zoological drawings, but I can't help but think it would be vastly improved by a different color scheme (maybe white ink on navy, or black ink on cranberry?).

Since I'm giving my unsolicited opinion, a higher placement would be nice too, maybe also scaled down by 10%-20%. ;P

I agree with the suggestion of slightly altering the placement, but leave the white-on-black as it is---the design really POPS in this scheme!

I can't decide which I like better---the grey or the green. Guess I'll just have to vote for both!

Very Cool, Very Original design. Doesn't look like there is any crosshatching though. Could be easily remedied.

Technically it would then be a tumbleleaf...if it were a century plant (Agave americana) then it would be a tumbleweed (and edible too).

That's hilarious. And one extremely unique part of this artwork is Poe's expression; I don't thinking I've ever seen a rendering of him smiling.

Seriously, who doesn't love octopus'? Or is it octopi? Who cares. Also, who doesn't love pirates? Vote for this and I promise I will make a ninja shirt in the near future for you ninja fans. I really enjoyed the scratchboard like process of this challenge.

Always?...

Your Honor,

Please allow me to submit exhibit A: a quotation taken by permission from THE RULES PAGE

start quote

"
----- Woot(!) References -----
-Anything that cannot be understood outside the confines of the Woot(!) website will probably be rejected. This rule is inconsistently enforced on questionable shirts.
"

end quote

Also, I believe it's fine since "non-wooters" can think it's funny because it's Poe smiling doing a thumbs up in a tshirt instead of his stuffy ol boring suit, and I'm not making a textual reference to Woot, so "wooters" who DO know it's a woot tshirt think it's funny for that, as well as the rest.

Something for everyone I believe!

I believe that small areas of solid color, especially if they have negative-space etching in them, are perfectly acceptable. And given that your same whiny comment is copied to multiple entries INCLUDING top contenders which haven't been disqualified for it, I'm gonna go ahead and assume the admins find it acceptable as well. Have a nice day.

P.S. Who says "grok" anymore?

Re: Ill-gotten Trinkets

Why does anything mermaid related have to go back to Disney?! It is a fairy tale written by Hans Christian Anderson!

I will buy myself this shirt because it is fantastically done and I seem to be collecting nautical and sea-life shirts.
