If you have a blue background and fill with 50% of the color that's fine, but you can't fill with the bucket set to screen or multiply. so go nuts with the rendering, but be sure that you don't use more than one color on a layer, then make your halftones at the end

Here is a video I made a while black showing how to make halftones.

Wait wait. *raises hand* how can I get my scanned in drawings to be line art over the coloring? I was accomplishing this through multiply. Is there another way with using white space as transparency?

First thing you should do is scan your art as bitmap instead of greyscale. Then you can just select the black and make a layer via copy. If you insist on scanning in greyscale, then you'll have to threshold the art to get rid of any antialiasing.

hmmm. While not completely ignorant of the threshold and antialias, in context I don't know what you mean. Threshold to make the blacks black and the whites white, Cutting out all those pretty grays. What does antialiasing have to do with it?

Oooh I didn't realize that was your shirt! I don't buy many t-shirts at other places than Woot but I had to buy that one for my son who just started watching Dr. Who a couple months ago and is now totally hooked. Thank goodness for Netflix! Awesome! I'm so glad your son liked it. Dr Who is such an incredible story that can be enjoyed on so many levels by so many people. The main hero constantly revolves faces, bringing in fresh new actors, we have our favorites... lady companions, aliens new and old, arch enemies. The expanse of the stage includes the entire universe and Beyond! I could go on forever about Dr Who..
