The distressing is uneven, perhaps deliberately so. Otherwise, simple and effective. I think I could see me wearing this.

too bad this wasn't last week's derby and this placed today, being bowie's birthday and all, it would have been a nifty coincidence.

still hoping for a place next weekend, either way. best of luck.

Re: Deep Thought

I am so disappoint. And yet somehow - refreshed!
I saw the title and started looking for mice as soon as the page loaded. I LOVE Doug Adams' work, and miss the reference. but the other side of me applauds that it really isn't there.
It's just so, like, done, ya know?

penrod--it's a reference to Silence of the Lambs

penrod - but tweaked. 'It puts the lotion on its skin...'
It's pretty, color-wise, but I don't think the comp works. Maybe it's me, but the graphic shapes are too obscure from the lamb/manhole. Just the latter would have worked great, IMHO.

O. Wait. But then it couldn't be wedged into the theme. I get it.
I'm not a big fan.

Re: The Power of Cheese

Great toon-like panel and comp. I dunno, not sure the borders are too boxy. Though a few more nibbles a the edges...? My only other quibble is with the Minotaur's right leg. It seems wonky to me, though without a larger pic, I'm not sure.
Tip: supply an image tag larger view(s), or a link to hosted files so folks can really get the whole picture.

Reminds me of DeadFrog's "A Distinct Possibility". Loved that shirt and would by this one too.

I like the idea behind this. Not crazy about the design. I'd like to see any other takes the designer has in the same vein.

Good luck in the fog.

Dead? Frog? I am reasonably sure I saw you sub under this appelation at least once before, and the art tells. So I'm saying 'DeadFrog'. I think you even posted that you were changing accounts?
So, Mike - as always, amazing. I just wish, Wish, WISH you didn't feel compelled to work on white. I LOVE this and would kill to have it.
On any other color. I have A Distinct Possibility, as well as KDeuce's Sullen. I love them both, but almost never wear them because the white tees are so semi-trans.
Don't get me wrong - the fact that my skin shows through is only a part of the problem. But because of the transparency, viewers are somewhat more attracted. And not in a good way. And it doesn't matter what size/shape you are. White is for wedding gowns. Maybe.
Me so sad.

This is neat, kudos on making a real maze. I have tried and failed. Off to Failland I go.

LOL, I'm always really happy to know when my stuff reminds people of food. Everyone loves cake... don't eat the kitty though, they don't tend to like that. =D

I had to restart a few times with the maze on this kitty. It seems that getting the patterns to look right and behave correctly just takes a little time to get use to.

Yeah, he mentioned it in the Cryptozoology derby ( I believe that the right one). "There can only be one" which depicted big foot "stalking" nessy.... I loved that design.

Thanks for all the fun comments everyone!

I am, in fact, DeadFrog; at least I was. I switched a while ago and then dropped off the map working on school stuff.

I figured it was a negative space maze. But, there are still plenty of "outs" following the line you showed me (thanks, by the way). I still stand by my first reaction. Cool idea but would have been better with no way out.

I'll take it! And you may have just mistyped, but the shirt is actually cream color. The bright blue might be casting a color illusion. The shirt color does have a warmth to it though.

fishbiscuit5 wrote:Cute idea! I really like the way you drew the jellyfish in the background and the choice to use pink and teal appeals to my girly side. :D Well done!

thanks, fishbiscuit. I am trying to appeal to more people. Stereotypically put, most my past designs are "guy" designs. I want to change that so I am glad it "appeals to my girly side."

Cool. I am glad you feel that way. I like to be original when I can I spend all week doing generic designs for other people, so when it comes to this derby, I try to stay clear of doing something that has been done before, generic/ bland, or using pre-existing characters to form parody. Sometimes I buckle if I have an idea I don't want to pass up, but I feel that rarely happens.

Thanks again, All !!!

Re: Problem Solved

Ooh my goodness it is soooo awesome and cuuuute. I would buy this instantly. You captured the characters really well here!

If I may suggest a way to fix it to adhere closer to the rules: If you can, join some of lines and make the wall to the left look more like a labyrinth. Wouldn't take much at all, and you can be subtle about it. As it is now though I'm afraid it's going to get the boot for not containing an actual maze or labyrinth.
