I think one of the back legs needs to be forward, like in one of these pictures:

Maybe it's just me though...

LOL considering how hard it was for me to find good running poses from the side that showed all the legs and feet I sort of waved my hands about and pretended he was flying. Since he's made of stars and all that jazz. But yeah... trying not to be lazy. Hmmm I might be able to move one of the back legs forward. The right one would be easiest.

Thanks for letting me know it looks odd. Not sure if it'll get fixed or not. Gah TIME! SLEEP! Grumbling.

Took me a little while, but I finally figured out what this made me think of - the end of "Tokyo Godfathers," when the whole city starts to dance. Unlike you, I really dislike cities, so it's unusual that I find myself liking this design so much. I think it's probably the lack of grunge that causes me to like it, FWIW.

As someone (I think wootvan) pointed out after me...what I suggested would be walking. If you want running you could have all four legs out (front legs stretched forward and back legs stretched backward like they already are) or all four legs inward (although this position probably wouldn't look as nice). I think I had just assumed he was supposed to be walking instead of running because when my dog brings me the ball after playing catch (if she actually brings it back) she comes trotting back...not at a full run. Hope that helps some. Good luck!

I've thought about entering stuff before (I'd like to think that I've come up with clever ideas that I haven't shared, but self-flattery is cheap), but I am pretty sure that I lack the computer software to do so.

I'll just sit back and enjoy what I see. If I ever get the right software to enter, maybe I will, or I'll see if someone wants to do a collab.

Get Gimp (www.gimp.org) and inkscape (www.inkscape.org) and you'll have all the software you need. They are the open source equivalents to photoshop and illustrator respectively.

I use them for all of my designs. They work great and you can't be the price tag ($0)

Looks good! I think the visiting stars could be moved down some so they don't overlap the platforms maybe.

WIP

I decided to go the throwing star route. The design is inspired by the throwing star fridge magnets and the joke about the pirate captain who wears a read shirt when going into battle so his men never see him bleed.

Title wise I'm thinking "I feel fine. Why do you ask?"

Comments or suggestions?

this would be pretty fun to wear. me likey. this will however answer the question whether or not shirts that have to do with other meanings of stars will be allowed, i kinda got the vibe from the write up that they only want the stars in space. but i like this so i hope it gets a chance, might be better to shoot a message to woot though just in case.

Nice use of negative space to suggest a forest canopy. The sky feels a bit empty to me. What would it look like with some duller star to fill in the dead space? Oh how about a full moon in place of a disco ball?

Overall - nicely done!

I just reread the theme text. I bet your right - this probably won't fly for this derby. I'll finish it up and sub it as daily.

Hmmm... Time to come up with some new ideas, but sleep first.

Oh no worries, my friend's also suggested the walking pose as they felt it had more character. I have fixed it and hopefully now it will at least not bother people. Sadly I must sleep so I'll probably post it in the morning. Thanks again both of you and Wootvan for the comments and photos.

First of all,
Thanks to this derby theme, I now have an endless loop of MOBY stuck in my head.
Secondly, I have a question,
I want to create a shirt titled; "MONOLITH CEREAL; it's full of stars" Execution aside, would people understand the humor/reference?

Okay, I'm done tinkering. I know it'll prolly get ignored seeing that there are some truly awesome shirts this week, but since I'm not a halftone god, this is what I do best. Hope you like.

Love the shirt, though some of the holes in the stars don't seem like you can see the shirt/shadow through them. And the title- if you use punctuation, I think woot has a problem showing the thumbnails when someone posts on the entry thread. I'd almost go with something simpler like "ow"

I personally thought of Star Trek- the redshirt always bites it when they beam down to the planet...

There's some sort of random scribbling in the upper right hand corner

Thanks! You know, I had a similar thought about wondering what else I could put in the scene once I had created it. I've never actually seen the show and just made this for the joke in the title, and because I really wanted to do a negative space based design. I am really happy with the way it turned out

I really like the highlighting on the balloon and the roughness of the lines. I think I might scatter the stars around the big one a bit more randomly, on the shirt they look like they are ringing around it some.
