Good luck everyone!

My vote is for the one with the face. I really like the exuberance of the expression.

Two suggestions

1. My monitor runs a little dark, so the hole doesn't contrast very well with the sky, maybe some highlights on the lip of the hole to help it stand out more.

2. It took me a second to get the shape-hole matching toy reference. It might be a little clearer if there are holes for the other shapes in the background.

Got my vote when you post!

Lagbert wrote:I just reread the theme text. I bet your right - this probably won't fly for this derby. I'll finish it up and sub it as daily.

Hmmm... Time to come up with some new ideas, but sleep first.

I love this shirt! The entire point of shirts on woot is to think outside of the box!

Here is what I've been working on this morning. It's still in the early stages but any comments are welcome.

Edit: Just replaced with the newest version before I leave for work.

I looked into this because I thought it was odd as well, but it looks to be an anomalous coincidence that everyone with a rejected entry has deleted their rejected entry. Given the six or so rejected so far and based on past derbies, that seems like somewhat low odds for it happening, but not impossible. I'll be keeping my eye on it just in case.

If someone did have an entry rejected but did not delete that entry and it's now gone, go ahead and PM and let me know.

Quick clarification on the derby topic:

Are non-celestial stars okay (ie ninja stars, sheriff's badges, star fish, etc.)?

Oh Gosh.... who was it that did that shirt design back for the Arctic Derby... Aurora in the Sky with Diamonds? This would be a GREAT chance to re-sub it! I loved that design

To vote on shirt.woot, you first need to have purchased something from any of the woot sites.

Here is a thought, being one of those artists that doesn't have a plethora of art work on hand. I was wondering has anyone ever won entering their design late?

There have been quite a few designs that snagged places while being entered late. I think the latest something has been entered that placed was Tuesday morning??

This Tgentry shirt was subbed on Monday at 8 PM and won 2nd place with 1177 votes. This was back when the fog was only 4 shirts instead of 9, not sure if that helps or hurts this type of thing.

Bassanimation's Fox Maiden was subbed on Sunday around 6PM and placed third last week so it still happens.

In general if you have a "strong" design and you enter before Monday you still have a good chance to place. But it gets tougher the longer you wait and your design really has to hit the voting audience just right to make up for lost time.

If the fog is any indication, I won't be buying any shirts this weekend.

I'd love to see "a sea of stars"

Like a rippling ocean of stars with an astronaut just floating in it. I would do it myself but I lack the talent...

YES!

I've never used art that I did prederby, which can be a hinderance at times, but if you have a strong idea and good execution, I think you can have a chance. My Binge design was subbed on a Monday afternoon and had the strongest 3 hour vote average of any shirt in Woot history ending with over 1400 votes in three days. Other pieces I've won with have been subbed late too, like Sunday evening. Keep it up. The great thing about Woot is that while there are those that place regularly, there's always the possibility of a dark horse printing
