Exactly what I was thinking. Since I think the idea was taken from this, I refuse to buy today's.

Oh yeah, I remember this place back in the Usenet days: alt.fan.shirt.woot

All the designs were made in ASCII. We didn't know any better and we were happy. Nevermore is still on the charts.

great design, but too close to the original?
i think so.
however, artist's website commands an amazing portolio of original retro stylized designs. love that.

Re: "this shirt may have stolen its concept": in the immortal words of the Barenaked Ladies: 'It's all been done (woohoohoo)'. "Dinosaurs slap each other" is not so brilliant a concept that two designers couldn't independently come up with it, to say nothing of the different style and emphasis on text with this one.

Save your raised eyebrows for designs that are genuinely derivative, like 'Glowy Floral Vectors' #78122A, 'Outer Space 'n Triangles' #27963B, or 'Food With :D Face' #687Y.

I would like to know what sort of sound "PWN" makes. Is it some sort of video game fanfare like the super mushroom in Mario? Or is "PWN" onomatopoeia and sounds like a better articulated grunt?

I believe its "Pown" as in "own" with a "P" sound immediately before it.

This would be much better without the oversized internet 3-letter-slang.

Nobody would ever say "meh" or "pwn" in the middle of a sissy slap-fight.

Am I the only one who immediately thought of Firefly?

"Yes. Yes, this is a fertile land, and we will thrive. We will rule over all this land, and we will call it... "This Land.".

"I think we should call it "your grave!".

"Ah, curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!

"Har har har! Mine is an evil laugh! Now die!

Eh, I think that's probably unfair- there's no reason to believe two people couldn't have come up with the idea independently. I say if you like this one, buy this one

I interpreted it as something akin the campy Batman TV show (Adam West and Burt Ward), where "BIFF!" "POW!" etc. popped up on screen during a fight scene.

And if they had, there would be 100 people whinging about WAHHHH I WONT GET THIS IN TIME FOR GROUNDHOGS DAY WHY U ALWAYS PUT THESE SHIRTS UP WHEN I CAN'T WEAR THEM. As if any shirt you can only wear on one day is a good shirt.

True. It's a big world, filled with many artists and many ideas. Similar or nearly identical ideas can arise independently sometimes. At least the artwork is original.

We still think ours is the better t-shirt though ;)

pwn is the result of video-gamers meaning to type "own" as in "you got owned" when killing others in multiplayer type situations. however, in their homicidal haste they missed the O and got the P instead.

I like this design better than the other one anyway, I like the colors and the dramatized text.
AND the fact that it's a little more than half the price of the other shirt.
