Yes; I did realize that Wikipedia spells it like that. Though apparently both spellings are correct. If you look at English editions of Hong-Kong newspapers you'll see that most spelled it Tinanmen, not sure why.

Transliterating things based on their sound in another language is not an exact science.

Cheers,

Awesome, omni!

Cute and jokey designs are great so long as they're original and have style - which your's most certainly always do.

Re: Tax Evasion

Nice, was going to post that this didn't really fit the theme at all without the title but as I was getting ready to type it I caught the joke.

Only suggestion is to maybe make the tacks more noticeable, or more obvious.

Pretty clever though, and it is Tax time. GMV!

chumpmagic wrote:2 words: Sarah Palin :P

One extreme analogy, which has been use before and is definitely a stretch, is that the word used in the title is no different than the "N" word. The proper term is mentally handicapped.

I agree that this would be an extreme stretch and PC has gotten way out of hand. As opposed to the "N" word, Lamuellan is a real word with very real other meanings than being used to describe the mentally handicapped as when checking the timing on an engine when the spark is to be Lamuellan. And, for many years the word was used by educational professionals to accurately describe a type of mental handicapped. The loss of the use of the "R" word as a descriptor rather than a slur has made our language poorer. And, I speak as one who raised a challenged child and served as an officer in the PTO of their school. Woot is changing both the "R" and "R"ed to Lamuellan showing that mechanics cannot properly post about professional activities on this forum.

A bandolier of carrots would be appreciated about now

Wonderfully charming. I like your signature stripes on the scarf. Oh, and I'd probably be the one on the back of the tandem doing no work.

I do all my linework in Inkscape. It's all done manually with the pen tool and a mouse, which is really the only way I can get the lines to be this well-manicured. For the curious, I made a quick tutorial about my process a ways back.

Great design, and thanks for that tutorial!

It took me a long time to get comfortable. I couldn't get used to looking at the screen while drawing off to the side, but now it's much easier. My hand still hurts after I'm finished drawing. I'm probably holding the pen too tight in an effort to maintain control, but I don't know how to change that.

Re: Toast is super bread

Thanks so much for the comments.

@bassanimation, hey that's awesome. Thanks. I felt like there was a lot of fun to be had from this idea, even though I may have not nailed the landing. :p

@megsck, I take your point about the styles not matching. I was thinking the comparative realism of the toast hero would make him stand out in an funny way, but it could be too much.

I should probably have stylized the toast texture in a cartoony way.

Actually this whole design became a lot busier than I planned. It started out so simple and then grew more and more complicated. For instance, the buildings were just going to be doodles to give a metropolitan flavor but even though I kept a scrawly style they were drawn with multiple vanishing points on a curved ground plane. Ack.

Maybe this would have been better with just the toast and the toaster? I should learn to edit more.

I -am- quite pleased with it all though. Hopefully I can tune it up at a later date.

If anyone has a critique then by all means let me hear it. ^__^
