The one thing that particularly stands out is the "snow thing" they are on and the lines coming from it...I'd be curious to know whether they're supposed to be on an iceberg or whether they're simply on a patch of snow...

Yeah, this is definitely a pop culture reference. And Draxx himself has had a win with Cthulhu earlier.

I thought it was underpants stealing. At least, I hear that's where the profit is at.

Clean, colorful, and cute (and on Heather Grey!!) This is a nicely executed idea. I love the little album cover against the trunk. And I love the movement implied by his feet and the record.

kylemittskus wrote:This is 1000x better than the predictable penguin shirt currently in the fog.

Agreed. The tragic thing to me, is that outside of Walmazan, Lucky probably has the best mix of things that the "we want art" crowd and the "we want something cute" crowd both claim to want. The art is well done in a personal style with great color treatment, and they manage to always be cute, funny and sometimes with an original pop culture reference.yet, he's not winning every other week.

I like the shaky lines and the use of minimal color (and the color of the shirt as space). I'm not really into the literal joke, but I just wanted to comment on the style. Excellent.

Re: Cooler than You

I don't mind this design at all. It's the slapdash designs that irks me; however, one thing I noticed is that the blue halftone could come up a bit. The arch of the headphones gets lost in the dark color T. The shirt placement is not even noticeable, but even the larger image struggles a tad. If the blue halftone was brought up a bit, then the arc of the headphones would be more defined.

Sorry if someone made this critique, but I hope you understand why I don't read through this entire thread :P

And here, boys and girls, is a lovely example of how to use a penguin in your design. Engaging movement? Check. Good use of color? Check. An endearing use of shaky (but well executed lines)? Check.

One more vote? Check.

Are you burning Stravinsky's "Firebird?" Because that would be sad.

If this prints, I'll "aunt-gift" this to my sister. That is, because I know she likes phoenices, I get the shirt for her.

That is one big hammer! Did you get that at Home Depot? ;)

My only critique would be to ask why didn't you research the extinct penguins for 15 minutes and use the Great Auk?
It would have fit beautiful to incorporate an extinct penguin with extinct music mediums.

I am really surprised more artists aren't zeroing in on this, e.g. Dodo listening to a Victrola?

The definition of clip art is salable rights to reproduce. I'm fairly sure that most Dover is usable for production tees and it's pretty darn cheap, but I'm no expert.

Re: Cooler than You

I was kind of hoping ramy would at least pick a songbird for his design this week. It'd work well with the 'cute' art style he usually goes with and be something new. Plus it'd be more relevant to the theme imho.

I absolutely love the colors on this and that you put it on asphalt rather than black. Admittedly I have too many asphalt shirts but I definitely think it was the best color choice for this design.

So far, this is the only entry I think I'd actually buy. +1
