Re: The Path

I love the design, but it has one fatal flaw in it...the sword should be on the Samurai's left side, not his right. Nearly all Japanese sword schools use the right hand as the prominent hand, so that is the hand that is used to draw the sword from the scabbard. (The one school I know of that does train to be ambidextrous with the sword still keeps the scabbard on the wearer's left side.) The angle of the hilt is also funny, it should be more level instead of pointing upward.

Things to consider if you do a similar design in the future. Or anyone else who wants to do a Samurai.

This is like a part-time job, generating revue/votes. I thought it would be like an Art Contest, but this is some serious stuff!

THE DRAMA! I have no idea what's going on, but it sounds really juicy!

Me likes me some drama, may I have a slice?

Yes, I have to say, it's a pretty picture but if I wore this Tshirt around my friends they would notice these things as well. At least he inserted the kimono correctly (left over right)into the hakama. But the emblem appears to be on the right side, not the left.Curious? Maybe it's not an emblem.

I think this would look better flipped horizontally. Yes, that would make sense and then the road would look like "Do" in Japanese meaning "The Path"

Pretty colors.

I'm torn. I love the design, but not the way it looks on the shirt color. But it might be one of those designs that looks far better in print than on the screen...

  • Congratulations on winning a Best Loser Award!
  • This is not SPAM.
  • Winning a BLA does NOT mean this shirt won't print -- I'm hoping it does.
  • Your one and only gift is this crappy little badge in your shirt thread. Enjoy.
  • And tell the man in the black cloak he doesn’t need to trouble his good soul with those latin conjugations.

frowniebrownie777 wrote:My only suggestion would be to maybe place the design off center, like more to the right. I think it would just make the shirt more interesting than the normal center placement.

This. It's nice and not over the top, as dragon designs sometimes can be, but it would be much better more to the side, the dragon facing the center.

If he flipped it horizontally, then the kimono would no longer be correct. But if it were flipped, and the kimono corrected, that would be excellent.

But I suffer the same situation - doubly so, because I train in traditional Japanese martial arts, including swordsmanship. My Sensei's would catch it instantly if they saw it, along with many of my fellow dojo-mates, and grief would be inevitable at that point.
