Apparently I'm too far disconnected from my childhood. Can somebody explain what the background part on the left is in reference to? I get the cat in the hat, red fish blue fish, and green eggs in ham (with a fox that looks like a german sheppard to me) but what is going on with the other side?

Aww.. I thought "What's Cookin" was hilarious, but I understand wanting to avoid outrage.. ;)

Re: books are useful

I like it, but I think it'd be stronger with just the image and no text bubble (and both just hypnotized by the TV)... I feel like it's too much text and too small for wearable t-shirt purposes.

Love the concept and the layout of books moving across the shirt. But somehow the tree looks scary... Like it's creepy that the tree is producing books.

That looks like "Hop on Pop" to me. And "Horton Hear a Who" behind the cat.

Re: Imagination Takes Flight

Love this, but I'm sad about the name, since inevitably people will connect it with this older t-shirt, which is also book-based, but lets be frank, is designed much differently.

We don't need books, now, right? We can pirate them for free off the internet. So might as well throw those legitimate paper books into the deep abyss.

Re: Moon Balloon

Who Knows If The Moon's

who knows if the moon's

a balloon, coming out of a keen city

in the sky--filled with pretty people?

(and if you and i should

get into it, if they

why then

we'd go up higher with all the pretty people

than houses and steeples and clouds:

go sailing

away and away sailing into a keen

in love and flowers pick themselves

I'm sorry, I'm not saying I don't like your design, but I pay for every book I read on my Kindle (unless it happens to be offered for free). . . not sure how those aren't "legitimate."

Re: A "READING" RAINBOW

For those of you who might not get it, the rainbow is written in Braille. It says "reading." Therefor it's ... never mind...

I'm not saying that the majority of people don't pay for their books, but it's a general trend that people are not buying paper books and instead are getting them electronically. So the paper book is getting short shrift. I'm playing to the pirating, but the design isn't simply about pirating, but getting an electronic copy of Treasure Island by R.L.S. over a paper one, thereby allowing you to throw away the paper copy.

Also, it's kind of a dig against our increasingly disposable society. I prefer hard copies of everything- music, books, vinyl, paper photos, etc, in case something happens to my devices. I still got it.
