This would indeed work just fine (and probably better) without the third animal. It would suggest a "Gift of the Magi" vibe as the two animals attempt to conform to each other in an effort to gain acceptance.

It's been awhile since I submitted a derby entry, but I finally had time and an idea! I also took the opportunity to experiment with halftones, since I've never used them before.
