On a related note, one of my facebook friends recently discovered the joy of trolling the young'ns by intentionally using hashtags everywhere BUT twitter.

Interesting. The company Orc works for has a script that can approximate the age of a writer based on forum or shoutbox (live stream) posts. I wonder how long until someone posts a psychopath script tester.... I wonder if it could tell us who the bubba is ;)

Not the dog park. An old estate opens up to dogs two weekends a year.

600 acres that are open to the public, but still privately owned.
Finally found out who built it and owns it.
Son of a partner in the Carnegie Steel Company and daughter of founder of Grace Shipping.
House was built in 1906 and the family lived there until the 1960's.

Not on the water. Still in a neighborhood where you get a glimse of the houses from the street. Mansions even now.
But nothing like this one.
I wonder why they leave it as a museum? Perfectly maintained.
Weird.

Basically we walked around and Rusty smelled doggie butts.

Today there were tons of little dogs in halloween costumes.

If you pass the dog can start training to be a therapy dog.
Rusty isn't a dog that looks for people to pet him.

He'll always do sit/stay. Doesn't like come or drop it!

These jeans were totally weird looking.

New question:
My step niece has her son in his second year of tackle football.
The kid is in 1st grade.
Yes, tackle in kindergarten.

Now, I'm not a sports person. Hubby wasn't either. Our school district has a handful of respectable teams, but on the whole, not sports driven.

I think she is nuts.

Is she, or am I just out of the sports loop?

Seeing as tackle football has a higher rate of brain damage than boxing now, umm yes.

My kids aren't really into sports. Ver1 likes to run and thinks she might like basketball... I heard they have girls b-ball in the spring in her age group.

We play tikes no score no outs t-ball in August.

Niece is nuts.

Edited to add: My friend just posted today that her 13 year old just finished his first year of football and they discovered that he has three broken toes. This is a very common injury and he has no idea when he broke them, it was repetitive stress from practice and games.

The even stranger part is, this kid is a quiet, gentle kid.
Now, his brother....him I can picture playing football! His is only 3 or 4. I'm sure his mom will have him it it.

I'm wondering who they play. None of the schools here have kids that young playing football. I only see baseball and soccer at the grade school.

I can't even imagine trying to get a kid that little to tackle properly so that they don't hurt themselves or the other kid. Soccer is pretty popular here too.

Good morning all
Joyner prayers continue for your mom and your family.

I spent the night at the hospital, stupid internets was screwed
F-i-l had a good night after a not so good day.
It was a worse night for the guy down the hall, but it was his last bad night . Fortunately I heard the code go out and closed our door before the f-i-l could hear what was going on.

There was quite a loud uprising going on in the E/R around 3 a.m. The cop was calling for backup when I wandered through. Apparently they were taking too long to get to the people.

Morning from Vegas... SLEEPY - but I have to get to the work part of this trip. (Actually started yesterday with a 4 hour class and a reception.

Ice & Joyner - praying for you guys & families

G'man - how is Emmi?

I'm from TX. Football starts at 5 or 6 here. It hasn't always started that young, but definitely in the last 10 years

Hubby and I upped our jog from one mile to a mile and half. You wouldn't think that extra half would be so hard!!!! I think Hubby is trying to lower my stress level. He is a good guy. Looking for excuses to not go to the nursing home. But I am on my way.

He is playing in the school league, so I guess it starts at 5 or 6 here too.

Afternoon wooters!

Another evening shift in the lab. Someone brought us pizza from Pizza Hut. Decent pizza, though greasy. Does make me wonder with all that oil in the crust how much napthalene it's absorbing out of the air as it sits in here.

Fortunately, with their smaller bodies and slower running speeds, the physics of the whole thing limit how much damage they can do, despite improper tackling.

Valid point. Although I was known to inflict some decent damage at that age. Of course we were doing over the shoulder throws. On the plus side I got really good at falling.

Kindergarteners here are required to be 5 years of age before the first day of classes. I know it's not that way in New York because my friend currently stationed there started her 4 year old this year even though when they come home he will be a year younger than all his classmates (if they ever come home - they've lived everywhere else an are happy doing that). Her son is the same age as my Ver2 who tells me every day she wishes she was in kindergarten instead of just preschool.
