Re: ODIN ver. 2

I really like it on green. I think it would look good on light blue, too. Something about the whole Norse God/Ice thing.

I really, really, really love this shirt. I've voted for several others but I wish I could vote for this one 100 times.

Re: Ocarina of Timepieces

This would be much more significant if I played the game, which I want to do, especially the new 3d one. However I'm too poor- I spend all my excess $ on t-shirts!!

Re: Owl I Want is a Cup of Coffee

I really like the way you illustrated the owl, and the expression on his face is great. On the other hand, and opposed to other comments, I´m not that fond of the octopus in the mug. I can´t find what it adds to the design in terms of concept, and for me it doesn´t fit in terms of style with the rest of the illustration, where you used these thick contour lines. Anyway, still one of my favourites on the derby.

Re: The Orb-Weaver

The execution on this design is excellent. The linework, the lighting and texturing, the use of negative space and shirt color, all combined to produce a beautiful image. Great work!!

Re: Outer Space Orbit

I wasn't paying close attention to this derby because I've actually had to work at work recently (crazy talk, I know), but this one drew me in. Great job on the execution of this. Nice colors and illusion of dimension (and a lack thereof). I hope it prints. =)

snif. I'm so sad. I hardly knew him, but whenever I remember he's gone, I just- seeing him there, all laid out like that, I can't help but cry!

maybe he's in a better place now- like a taco!

Re: O-sensei, the Owl

Wow, this is really fantastic!. I hadn't noticed your first version until after I saw this one... now it's hard to decide which one I like better.

The creme color is appropriate and I find this shirt comp to be the more compelling of the two, but the square edges on the design seem a bit sharp so I'd probably prefer to wear the black one. In any case, GMV for both!

Oh, and I like your descriptions in the comments for those who aren't familiar with O-Sensei and Aikido, but as a fellow long-time practitioner I was right away able to recognize and appreciate the design.

Re: [url=http://shirt.woot.com/Derby/Entry.aspx?id=54677]O-sensei, the Owl

I prefer the coloring and the trees in this one, and the art is awesome like always. My one complaint would be that it's very square on top. Voters don't generally go for that. +1

Now now, be nice to the dearly departed ...

Besides, wouldn't it be more "tragic" if a "tornado" accidentally went through and took out a couple of the mourners? I mean, spare Mr. Carrot, please, but the others ... may they find peace ... in a salsa bowl.

GMV.

cwendauthi wrote:I can understand frustration with stretching themes, but if the designs aren't rejected and are wearable/enjoyable, then I really don't understand frustration to the point of raging.

Raging ... I don't think I've ever gone that far down ... yet.

Fairness ... it's not so much the votes, but what has happened with the Reckoning in the past. The sudden surges of sales at the last minute - sometimes beyond the last minute ... yeah, that had to be fishy business.

Seeing how I haven't resorted to setting the shirts I do have on fire yet, it's obvious I still don't completely despise him. But don't step on toes (even if it's inadvertent), less bunguins, more Aztec ... that goes a long ways towards salvaging the respect.

Agreed- I really like the detail in the orange and the distressed look works very well with the design overall.

But shouldn't the handkerchief have strawberries on it?

Yes well... yeah. lol

My original design also had a pillow, and a Cyprus tree. However, I'm still getting used to digital art - I had to pull back quite a bit, lol.

Thanks!

This shirt rocks. Can I print it on a rice scroll and hang it on a door? Maybe right next to the gangster panda.

Is that like a head nod/tip of the hat? Or like an old-school "obliged?" Or just "thank you?"
