i'd be inclined to agree with you--but if you take a look at the miniature gingerbread man sketch on the lower right side of the shirt, it's clear that if those lines aren't there, the figure would have a tendency to look a bit octopus-like due to the cookie man being far more rounded and less detailed than the vitruvian man.
