Good, they never load on the big page properly for me anyway. And the flashing is just annoying. Haven't liked gif thumbnails since I first saw one in the last Halloween derby.
But who said it and where?

Keep it the same view-point as the work+caffeine guy, just standing and waving pants instead of looking wired. I don't think you need that extra frame at the bottom at all.

Simple is better with this one. Very funny idea

Thanks for the feedback. I'll keep that in mind for future designs.

Nice work!

Aww, thanks for coming by my table! It was good to see other wooters at Comic Con. I reallly, really wanted to do that fairy tale theme derby, but there was just no time.

LOL kitties! I thought of the idea for this one on Friday after the derby had started and just had to see if I could get it done.

tanios wrote:Honestly, this is my favorite design of all that I've seen for this derby. Enough that I'd buy it, despite my distaste for unionized labor. Unfortunately, what does it for me is the HP references. I'd have rather seen something like Paracelsus or some famous early chemist mentioned before a couple of imaginary literary characters when the rest is basically tied to historical references. The literature just seems out of place. But, that's just my opinion. Still, a great design overall.

Great design, very clever. I'd rather see references to historically recognized alchemists like Philippus Aureolus Theophrastus Bombastus von Hohenheim (aka Paracelsus) , Wei Po-Yang, Jābir ibn Hayyān (Geber), Hermes Trismegistus. A lot of chemists do follow HP, but also a lot are embarrassed by it.

ochopika wrote:If you're using Photoshop, just click on the crop tool, and enter "580 px" in both the width and height boxes. Crop your whole shirt comp that way. You could just go to image and image size, but if your image isn't perfectly square then I think its more straightforward to crop it.

If you're using GIMP and your image isn't perfectly square (which it isn't), click image>scale image, then scale JUST the height to 580 px, AND add 100 pixel/in to the resolution (ex: if its 300 pixel/in make it 400. Makes it less blurry in my experience). Make sure that the width is linked to the height so that it scales and doesn't become distorted.

Click on image>canvas size and make the canvas size 580x580 px (click the chain-thingy so that the h and w aren't linked). In this window you can move the canvas around so that it frames the right things. Now when you flatten your image and save it as a .gif, it should be 580x580px.

Lots of text. Hope that helps!

i was actually using illustrator. i set it up to 580 but that weird. if i fix it and resubmit it, won't it delete my votes thus far?

Re: Atoms Everywhere

This shirt makes me think of one of my favorite quotes. And it's beautiful! GMV

"Every atom in your body came from a star that exploded. And, the atoms in your left hand probably came from a different star than your right hand. It really is the most poetic thing I know about physics: You are all stardust. You couldn’t be here if stars hadn’t exploded, because the elements - the carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, iron, all the things that matter for evolution and for life - weren’t created at the beginning of time. They were created in the nuclear furnaces of stars, and the only way for them to get into your body is if those stars were kind enough to explode. So, forget Jesus. The stars died so that you could be here today."
— Lawrence M. Krauss

I'm surprised no one caught the movie poster before. Seems like there would be a few people on shirt.woot who would recognize that image. Not saying I would have, mind you, but I'm not a huge X-men fan.

Nice catch, j5. BlindDog, severely disappoint, especially since I liked some of your previous work. I'm always going to question your future submissions now, assuming woot allows you to continue to submit.
