Staff

It's Reckoning Day! Everyone gather 'round the Reckoning Circle as we cast off the week's dead weight. Seven little shirts shuffle off to meet their makers to make room for a brand new batch. But that doesn't happen 'til tomorrow, so now we have this awkward lame duck time until midnight tonight where we all stand around looking at our feet and kicking the dirt. We'd sure appreciate it if you stop by the Reckoning page and say hi, just to mix things up a bit. You could buy a shirt if you like, too. Today's your last chance for:

Thank goodness my numbers were off, and that a (+14) was sufficient. Yeah, I am still a bit sad that Orchid didn't make it, but every shirt has its week. And alas, this is its week ... along with Minor's.

No joke, I didn't see it making it out (but glad it did!)

Ok, time to tally up the predictions:

citizencoyote wrote:
1. The Binge will remain at #2. Black Knight will move up to #3.
2. Minor Modifications will finally fall.
3. Unstealthiest Ninja will survive another week, but will remain near the bottom.
4. Smarter than the Average Bear will claw its way out of the Danger Zone, but won't get far.
5. You Can't Catch Me will try but fail to escape the Danger Zone.

Bonus!
6. Heavy Metal will fail to break 500 sold.

1. Nope, and nope. Binge ended up at #3, Black Knight at #4.
2. YES
3. Sort of... it did survive, but fared better than I predicted.
4. Nope, it never even made it to #20.
5. Nope, it did what I predicted Bear would do. So switch those and call it even. ;)
6. Ah yeah... 493 sold at last count.

So 2.5 out of 6. Not great, but maybe if I smack the crystal ball with my hand a couple times tonight I'll jar the reception back into alignment (since I can't return it, as Narfcake pointed out).

(And special thanks to Taternuggets for his last-minute heroics!)

My crystal ball says ...

- Questionable Table has a #1 debut.
- The other two derby winners debut in the top 10.
- Nevermore, Ancient Oak, Seasons, In the Library with the Wrench, Release the Cuddlin', and Funny Things are Everywhere will be in the high teens/low 20's.

Wow, a ramby shirt actually got reckoned. And strangely the one that barely made it (Funny things are everywhere) I just saw for the first time worn by someone on the DC Metro.

Sad to see The Orchid Onryo, I might have to finally pick up a copy before it goes. Still on the fence a bit.

When you have five in the reckoning, you can't cook the books to save ALL of them.

Hopefully we'll see a similar story next monday also, but I'm predicting bad news for Wences and Kev instead.

And tater, while I don't approve of your tactics, the end result is always appreciated. You get a gold star.

That wasn't a deterrent in the past with the Ramy/Seki duo.

One aspect (loophole) that has since changed is that the sales aren't counted now until the transaction is fully processed. In the past, the sales counted as soon as the shirts were added to a cart, so a pre-noontime 'I want three' could gauge the number of sales necessary for safety, resulting in the post-noontime jumps too.

And tater, while I don't approve of your tactics, the end result is always appreciated. You get a gold star.

As I see it, such is still fair game when it's not done as self promotion (cheating). The sales cut off at noon, so an 11:59am transaction still counts.

Keep in mind that I noted that it would've taken a (+18). Several of us have already counted on it not making the cut, so making it into safety with a (+14) was indeed a huge surprise. And the end result, with two positive consequences, was VERY appreciated.

It's not something I regularly do. I happened to be looking at the derby at that time. I was thinking to myself that You Can't Catch Me was too good of a shirt to go after one week. I was also thinking to myself that it was a little too childish and effeminate for my tastes to actually buy it to try and help it out.

It was at this point that I had the epiphany that I do in fact have a girl child. I made my purchase in haste with the intention of beating the clock. But I didn't plan to or draw it up that way as some big strategy.

Knocking a Ramy shirt out was simply a bonus.

edit: Not saying other people buying it would have to be childish or effeminate... it's just a preference thing.

So, which shirt are you planning to kill (of course, unintentionally) next week?
