Re: Forgotten Freshman

It's easy to be forgotten when your smaller than everyone and you've barely hit puberty... maybe. That's why it's laughable that poor little freshman are sent to the same school with giant seniors... LAUGHABLE!

ChaosDoctor07 wrote:This, considering what I understood from tgentry in the pre-derby thread (or at least, what I saw of what he wrote). Nice pun, but it is completely dependent on the text to make sense, which would, based on my understanding, reject it due to non-incidental text.

tgentry wrote:An interesting wrinkle in these guidelines is that a chalkboard filled with equations might be crucial to a design, which would take on a completely different meaning if it featured an empty chalkboard. As long as the equations themselves aren't the message we'd probably still consider that incidental. Just use your best judgement and if you're on the fence err on the side of less text.

DianaSprinkle wrote:Er, I'm not sure about this but it looks more like a spoof of the "Spaceballs" version of Vader, Dark Helmet. Of course this could still just be odd proportions but thinking of him as that version makes it sort of work for me. =D

I dunno, I guess it's just there are other aspects that I feel would really add to this design that are missing. I'd like to see a room full of stormtrooper classmen maybe. I guess that the body proportion thing can be a matter of taste. I know that I really felt that the zombie people needing coffee design he put up a while ago didn't work because of the way that the people looked, but many people did vote for it.

Ah well, I guess Vader just looks too off for my tastes though, I really want to see that iconic skull face thing.

Re: An Apple for Teacher

Love it, but would love it better without the Mrs. White, because A) I think the text is less than incidental, and you risk the Rejectionator, and 2) I don't think you need it. I think it makes the shirt too obvious.

The bold, red F just add so much to this. Suggests a lot more than a blank piece of paper (which is what we normally used when bored). Good stuff!

A division sign is crucial to the design. Without it, the whole "cell division" thing doesn't work.

Shoot. Forgot about that. Now whether the equations themselves are part of the "message"...Ehh. Borderline.

Re: Aerodynamics

Wow... I worked for hours on a shirt last night that involved almost EXACTLY this same design... and then my program froze.

Yes I know, I'm an poooony for not saving along the way.

Because of frustration, very late night, and actual work I gave up on mine... not saying yours WOULD have beat mine tho but you GMV for thinking alike and pulling it off.
