Re: School for Cats
Those cats don't even need school... they're naturals!

I hope it is! awesome shirt!
nevetnod wrote:In my opinion this only helps explain your biased justification for allowing a design which by any other submitter likely would have been rejected and serves, instead, to fuel the flames of discontent.
Considering that this was a pre-derby discussion, I really don't see the issue. It's not like they're trying to justify leaving it in---they could easily have decided that the shirt didn't qualify beforehand. Their reasoning seems pretty sound to me, even if I'm not necessarily in agreement. I also find it hilarious that, per usual, everyone's complaining about Ramyb's design, but there are no comments on http://shirt.woot.com/Derby/Entry.aspx?id=55770 http://shirt.woot.com/Derby/Entry.aspx?id=55773 About the same thing, and both clearly rely on *symbols* to make the joke. Hell, the cat one has text that is very necessary to make the joke. If you're going to nitpick like wow, please at least stop being so biased yourselves. As for the recognizeableness/necessity to explain: 1) Maybe it's just been less time since I took a biology class, but I can definitely identify that as a cell. If it was not green, would you still see it as a pickle or are you guys just being difficult for the sake of being difficult? 2) Are people actually bothered about having to explain shirts to people? Because I've had to explain just about every shirt I've bought off of here to some degree.

Like the placement, but I kind of wish it was against a different color. Brown maybe, or green?
blk909 wrote:so, is this design on a cream shirt or a baby blue one?
On a blue shirt. I just put the cream background instead of a plain white background. For aesthetic appeal.
Re: Back To School
This shirt would be okay for like first and second graders other then that I wouldn't be interested.
adorabrooke wrote:I love this because it's true! I'm sure my son (going into 7th grade) will have back problems later in life. Great design.
I trace my knee problem to 7th grade. I didn't have a backpack, but a messenger bag, so all that weight was on one side...
Love your dog... Mine always sat at the window when I left for school. Good memories.
Re: Dog - Gone - School
I like the design on this shirt, just don't care for the color of the shirt.
Assassin15 wrote:Well, incidental text or not, I think this is another one you'll have to explain to everyone, since they won't know the name of it. Did anyone get it within seconds, without looking at the title? I didn't.
Sometimes that's the best part. I got this one, and when I wear it, I always get someone looking quizzically at it. When I say, "It's a soap opera." They always laugh and say something like, "Oh, that's cute!" or, "Oh, that's clever!" or, occasionally, "Oh, I can't believe I didn't figure that out!" I like it. It's fun. I think the Cell Division one would provoke the same kind of interaction.

Re: Lunch of the Living Dead
Love this one! course, I love anything with Zombies!
taternuggets wrote:I'm curious what a thumbnail using the Gandalf sign would produce...
Yeah, I actually tried it, but for some reason it wasn't working for me. It would be so cool if Woot allowed us to change the thumbnail after submitting the design. Maybe I am so naive to think that everyone reviews each design as I do.
Re: Coat of arms
Wow. Awesome artwork
Re: epic paper airplane war
Not a fan of the execution, but I really like the concept
Re: First Day
Hmm, you ran into the printable area. Many commenters say they don't like boxy, And here I agree with them as the top is a large black bar. But if you faded the top (like skyscrapers fade as you look up) it might have been hard to see that it is a bus... tough one.
omarfeliciano wrote:It would be so cool if Woot allowed us to change the thumbnail after submitting the design.
Yes, it would be.
Re: The Aviator
Yes, I know I have two paper plane designs running, but was very enjoyable! I hope you like it.
Re: HONEY BADGER IS CRAZY
Does it work without the text?
logicalcupcake wrote:Like the placement, but I kind of wish it was against a different color. Brown maybe, or green?
i landed on baby blue cuz i wanted to get the "scribbled on notebook paper" vibe. (didn't want to go with a white T)... i agree that i would rather wear a shirt other than baby blue, but i felt it would change the "inked" style of the design if the ink was brighter than the shirt... any thoughts??
Very nice design and well executed. Good job!
I always say I want more dog shirts and less cat shirts. I LOVE this design. As others have said, it brings back memories from when I was a kid leaving for school and how guilty my dog made me feel then...funny, my dog now does the SAME thing when I leave for work in the morning haha =P Those puppy eyes get me every time!
I like the sense of motion in this one
Awesome use of negative space!

I like the blue. Gmv
mardigraw wrote:Nice. I like how there is an F on the paper. I can just imagine a student throwing that at a teacher.
Not if they were smart...that's how you get caught. You throw things WITHOUT your name on it at the teacher and the "F" with your name on it flies out the window! EDIT: Yes, I realize I said "if they were smart" about someone that got an "F" but street-smart and book-smart are NOT one and the same...
Re: An Apple for Teacher
Thanks for all the support on this design everyone!! As for Snow White's appearance, I didn't want it to be like I just plunked a Disney princess down at a teacher's desk. I wanted it to be the "teacher" version of Snow White with some of my own artistic style showing through, so I just included a few signature elements (hairstyle, puffy blue sleeves, bows on high heels) and then put her name on the board to help people along the rest of the way. Just wanted to explain my thought process a little since people seem to have mixed feelings about her outfit and the text. Thanks again to everyone for your input!
I agree, most anything with zombies gets my vote! This one is very well done. I especially enjoy the kid pointing out to the other that he has lost his arm - hilarious! :p
Re: Night School
This is where interested parties can go to learn about night. 6 colors (with a few half tones thrown in) on navy.
LegendaryGatz wrote:OMGOMGOMGPONIESOMG PONIES! that this got rejected while other copyrighted characters get a 'by'. Seems that the Rejectanator is a bit biased. I'd totally by this shirt. A couple weeks back a Futurama shirt, which broke the rules of that week's woot contest won, despite many, many people voicing that it violated both rules. Double standards much?
Look at the top voted for this derby. Star Wars and Peanuts might have something to say about the Copyright rules.
Yeah right, Batman has nothing to learn there.. HE IS THE NIGHT!!!
Re: Classic Crush
Incidental text? Not so sure...
Re: Substitute Teacher
This makes no sense at all aside from trying to make money ripping off Darth Vader. At least Cell Division is a pun.
Six colors on black... I loved kindergarten when we colored rainbows on paper, covered them with black crayon and then scraped the black off to make pictures...
Excellent concept. Well executed. I've always been a fan of "coats of arms" or emblems. GMV.
ChaosDoctor07 wrote:Incidental text? Not so sure...
It goes along with the day dream of a boys first crush on their teacher.
this is full of win
I don't understand either but its interesting. Maybe resub with color? I hate white shirts.
