Why wouldn't it be? Light sabers would be pretty cumbersome if you had to hold down a button to keep them on.

Wow, I didn't realise this was meant to represent a facebook like button until I read the comments.

Prepare for us non facebook-obsessed people to not understand your tshirt when you wear it. And remain unimpressed when you explain it.

Beat me to the one witty reference that popped into my head! And yes, we could argue the "witty" part.

While it can be argued, as a stretch, that the "8-bitedness" is period correct (for Return of the Jedi, anyway) the anachronism of the "like" icon parody bothers me. I would have preferred it if it were higher resolution (e.g. "meh")..I'll have to think it over.

move along

Now I understand why Woot always says, "No Star Wars references" in the derby's. This shirt is L.A.M.E.! In for zero.

No comment on the shirt, but since I don't do Star Wars references [don't whine - I've seen them all and took my bestest girlfriend to the first one when it came out - in Monroeville, PA (Dawn of the Dead - original version)], I get to save money on this so I can buy an extra of one of the Reckoning shirts.

bluejester wrote:I disagree with the woot writer's comment about Mark Hamil's career going downhill after Star Wars.

To me, his voice work for the Joker is still the definitive version of Batman's arch nemisis.

I was going to make this point too, though to be honest, he does have a very successful voice acting career but the only person who came out of Star Wars with a successful movie career is Harrison Ford. That sort of thing isn't so unusual though really, just look at how many Star Trek people appeared in anything significant after their Trek show ended.

I'm in the same boat. My 9-yr-old Luke would love this. I'm just thinking... more laundry. And the Facebook reference. Do I really want my son wearing that?

I'm saying yeah, because he'd love it. What's to think about?

Right there with you. People make the joke "Luuuuuuke, I am your father..." and then ask if I get that a lot.

I just tell them every single person... I've ever met... in my entire life. So yes? I think that's a lot.

Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't Lukes left hand cut off. And yes I realize this is a stupid facebook reference.

Isn't the hand on the shirt design a left hand? Or was that your point?

No, the design on the shirt is certainly a right hand. And it was certainly Luke's right hand that was dismembered in Empire Strikes Back:

I had to get this shirt even though it's a right hand and should have a black glove on it. I guess it could be an ESB pre-severed hand, but then the sleeve should be khaki. Wait, is it supposed to be his severed hand? Damn you 8bit graphics, I can't tell! When I ordered it I could have sworn it was a ROTJ hand. Arrgh, but then the lightsaber would be green.

Can I get a "disluke" design for the back of my shirt? ; )

This makes me wonder if facebook will be around in 20 years and people will find this shirt and get the reference.

Thanks, Pixelpants, David, Keith, Matt, all! Very kind words.

Karga, my original intent was to bring balance to the design, between light parody humor and the dark side of, you know, special effects violence (it is indeed meant to be from ESB)

The final product can be enjoyed by folks of any age, but especially people named Luke!
