Not really true.
Woot has cultivated an audience that is attracted to the kind of design that RamyB makes.
See DianaSprinkle's fogged entry for an example.

I do like this one though. and I agree the red really pops and looks fantastic.

Yeah, I'm definately not as good as Patrickspen; this is only my fourth entry.

I'll work on making the other demon not so childish. I had wanted something large there, but that was before I put in the spider.

This shirt is the best representation of cuteness and just the right amount of holiday creepiness without being over the top or even the slightest bit morbid. The shadow reminds me almost of the opening credits to My Neighbor Totoro, but, you know, spooky.

Crossing my fingers for a miracle. My favorite derby entry, I'd love to buy it for my son.

Why hasn't this been resubmitted? It's great and I want one.
It's not because he's got another shirt in the derby too, Ghost Grinder? At least I hope not.

I agree. You're clearly able to produce fast enough so I would recommend working up at least one every few weeks to submit as a daily. Sad to see this one drop out. You'll get one soon though, I know it.

Coffeybean, please consider submitting this as a hallowoot daily, in case it doesn't win (assuming you haven't already).

Well thanks for all the kind words. I had high hopes for this one, but oh well. I definitely want to do some daily entries and have been tossing around some ideas, so we'll see how that goes. Thanks again everyone.
There's always next derby.

Re: Slow Death

Wow, to heck with whether this is halloweeny enough, the idea is awesome and I especially like the way the turtles menacing yet somehow cutesy eye is trained on Senor Snail.
Also, great work on the scythe. It looks great.
Hope this one comes out on top!

I think designs tend to print higher than it often looks on previews...at least for the women's sizes.

I was actually going to comment that I think this design handled the placement of two round objects on the chest quite well, avoiding what is normally problematic. And, of course, the colors are great, I love the use of pink on a Halloween shirt. My only comment is that the neck/spine looks odd, more like an artificial metallic construction as opposed to bones....was that intentional? Finally, I'm sad this isn't doing better. GMV and I typically really don't like skull designs.

It is sad to admit but cool art usually doesn't print here. It does well at times and I have some somewhat close calls myself with cooler design, but it seems like something the majority doesn't care for. One of the biggest games we have to play as artists is "know your audience," and this design would do a lot better with a different crowd.

I don't want to discourage you from doing stuff like this here (just because I haven't seen it doesn't mean you can't !!!), but I will say you are making it harder for yourself. I hate to say it, but I would recommend your first entry should be something that appeals to woot voters. But really its up to you... I don't even listen to myself, continually doing designs that I know aren't suitable for this crowd. Just thought I would share what I have seen.

Also feel free to view woots print history to get a better understanding of what I am talking about. http://shirtwhat.com/archive_s.php

I do like your style and concepts and wish you the best of luck in future entries.

I agree with Thumper, the mirror needs a "reflection" shine/streaks, also.

Love the retro look and colors. Boots are gr8! Love the nod to Vampirella, too!

I will give it a vote for sexy-chocolate retroness and the fact that she's a redhead.

I like the navy version better, has more of a night-time feel. I think I'd like it better if the adult's eye were closed as well, but the puppy is adorable!

yeah, i understand what you are saying. I usually try to just take it design by design. My first few entries were definitely more simple. These last few, including "whack-a-meerkat" from the safari derby, are the only ones that I've really gone off the deep end with detail and shading. I love doing a simple cartoon style as well. It just depends on what fits the design best. I try to hit both sides of the fence as much as possible. I'll definitely try a simple one next derby.
