Used to on trains going a long distance. Sometimes there was a little door near the floor and you put the shoes into the box which of course had a door on the other side. Porter could then retrieve them either from the doorway or the box, and in the morning, nicely shined shoes. Oh the memories I have. Wish I new what the date is today, though.
